I have a Dell Inspiron 530s. It is a year and a half old, and the motherboard is gone. I've been told Dell has had major problems with this motherboard, and that a class action lawsuit was brought against them. Was the 530s part of that lawsuit?

Even it is included in a law suit depends if you want your unit to get back into action or not.You can usually get a dell MoBo of the same model from ebay, newegg or geeks.com for a modest or lower price and even suggest a service tag to come with it.

Dell Inspiron 531 (desktop) won?t turn on/boot

You've either got a bad motherboard or a bad processor (I'd lean to the motherboard being bad). I would honestly take this into a computer repair shop and have them check both.

AC adapter not recognised

Try charging the battery on one of the other dell's.
If the unit runs for any lengh of time, it is not the motherboard.
It could be the A/C adaptor jack on the side of the unit.
Log a complaint will dell's customer care.
