Thanks for coming to Fixya with your issue.

Allow me to try and understand your issue fully does the TV change size when you switch to a HD channel?

What happens is if a channel reception is interfered with, or the signal is too low to produce a HD channel you size will go from HD to standard DEFinition.

Now if the signal is good ether from the cable box or from the antenna then we are talking a decoder issue. So I need to know as far as clarification goes.

1. When does this happen
2. Does it happen on all channels

This may be your cable/satellite box. The resolution is changing depending on the show. You are likely watching SD and HD shows and its changing to fit. I would try watching all HD shows. See if that works. If not, you can force the TV to scale to one size but you would need to refer to your manual as I dont know which model TV you have.

You need to change the picture-size by using the TV remote and or cable remote.
On the remote look for P-Size, Zoom, Sreen size or Ratio.

Can't changes tv picture screen sizes,when the tv is off.She is cleaning the tv,when it is off wright?Yes.Than the tv programming u are watching stay small screen size the whole entire times even different seen or in commercials?Tv even in difference tv channels,screen sizes are small too?Sometimes tv changes screen sizes by itself to fit the tv programming it is playing to fit it prgramming format it displaying.Still have all small screen sizes all the tv channels.Tv must be on and playing.U have the tv original remote wright?Yes.Try looking on ur tv remote control look for a buttons said like Aspect Ratio,Picture Sizes,ZOOM or VIEWMODE buttons,by pushing one of these buttons on the remote should able to changes tv picture screen sizes.

Picture Size
Keep in mind that not all programs and show are in widescreen format. When set to normal, you will get those black bars on the sides because the program is sized for the older TV's. Some TV's will have a zoom option, but that will cut off some of the top and the bottom of your picture.

Until everything goes widescreen, you are stuck in normal with those black bars or widescreen with the fat people.

I hate distortion in my TV image, so I am perfectly fine with my TV on normal.

I cant adjust my picture size to normal on my Sony Wega 51" TV
the screen size feature is gray out because there is a previous option selected already and computer assumes you want always that size.So going into the menu and try to look for a previous selection related with: "screen size default". The menu allows you to selec this option and (i like to "standard" and i adjust screen size with my cable box feature who allows change size also if is needed, but now days cable box change it itself because is automatic) is install in the original program by manufacture because helps you to keep one size and you don't have to change it any moment. This default option is outside the regular screen size option, if i remember right is in set up screen. try to find this options in your user's manual to follow the right screen procedure..

Picture size
You need to go into the menu and take it off of auto aspect. As long as this is on it will adjust whenever it feels like it.
