Hey charliedee,
The program that came with this camera to allow uploading of images to your computer is called Nikon View. Nikon does not provide a free version of this on their website, but you could probably find a free download of Nikon View by searching for it on the web. If all you want to do is transfer your images to your computer and you don't need all the other utilities that come with Nikon View I have provided a link to a download of Nikon Transfer that is free through Nikon, which should allow you to transfer your images to your computer. I hope this helps!

Computer does not recognize my nikon 3200 camera

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

I have a Coolpix L100, and have installed the Nikon Transfer software. I am using a USB cable (that came with the camera) to connect my PC (Windows XP) to the camera. The Nikon Transfer software does not...

Alright..... I had this same problem and I finally figured it out. If your pictures are saved onto the card, then the USB cord will not detect them. If you want to transfer pics via the USB cable, make sure they are saved to your camera. You can copy photos from your card to camera vice versa under your menu settings.
Also, your card CANNOT be plugged into your camera or it will not see anything. I guess the card confuses the camera. Seems really stupid on Nikon's part.
Your camera only has a limited amount of memory, so if you will be limited on how many photos you can save to your camera.
Do this, and it will work.

If you can get the pics using a card reader, why are you insisting on using the camera and USB cord? Pros always use a card reader.

Is the camera recognised by the pc as a usb 'drive'.?? If not try another cable. If another cable does not help, then the fault could be with the camera itself.
Try inserting the card in a separate card reader attached to a pc - if you can see the latest pics taken, then the camera is taking pics ok - and we are back to the transfer problem.

If you can see the pics in your 'my computer' then you can copy or move them onto your pc's hard drive. The fault then could be your Nikon transfer program. Try reloading the software as it may be corrupted on your pc..

Camera will not transfer images to computer. Maybe something wro

Just getting a car reader will be much easier than trying to take the Coolpix apart and repairing. Also your USB cord could be damaged.
