You should have three wires coming from the light, a ground, a stop and a running. note that leds are diodes and conduct current only one way so if you reverse bias them they will not light up. if you have voltage at the wire from the brake switch, make sure the wires on the light are hooked up correctly. note also, if going through some type of lighting modules that are showing up, you might not be drawing enough current to activate the module in which case you will need to add a load to it which are available. however, being an 82 i doubt you have one. one other thought, if you only have two wires, it might be grounding through the light body and it would need a good connection to you fender.

What do I need to do to get l.e.d turn signals to work on my motorcycle?

That's because the LED bulbs draw so little current the flasher relays doesn't know anything is there. You need an electronic flasher relay, OR you need to put a resistor in parallel with the bulbs to draw more power.

I *think* you have a pretty common 2-post relay, or possibly a 3-post relay on your bike, so something like this should work;

I have a Sunquest Pro 24S four upper bulbs went out together. I changed bulbs and starters. What else can it be?

Assuming the ballasts are good, Do a continuity check on the tombstones. If one stab wire arcs out, it could daisy chain down several bulbs. You can also wiggle the wires at the tombstones and see if the bulbs light up. If you replace tombstones, be sure to select the same style shunted or unshunted (electronic ballasts will be shunted).

No power to bike/new charged battery/is there

The pre-2000 models came with circuit breakers instead of fuses. They look like little metal cans that are about 1/2" wide by about 1 1/2" long. When a short circuit causes the current draw to exceed the rating of the circuit breaker, it will break with a slightly audible "ping". After a few minutes, it will reset itself. If the short circuit is still present, it will simply start the cycle all over again.

Now, there is a main circuit breaker. Usually it's under the seat and it's rated at 30 amps. It could have been replaced with a fuse by a previous owner if the bike was purchased used.

Now, at the battery or the starter, you should have an additional wire that supplies power to the entire bike. The large battery cable connects to the postive side of the battery and then goes down to the starter. Your bike should have the Nippondenso type starter on it as the '88 year model was the last to have the seperate starter solenoid and Hitachi starter. At one or the other places, the starter or the battery, there should be a large single wire connected along with the battery cable. This wire is the what I call the "accessories" power wire. It must be connected or there will be no power to the rest of the bike. If you failed to reconnect it at the battery, this could be your problem.

If you will contact me directly and tell me you need a schematic for your '89 FLHS, I can send it to you e-mail. wd4ity@bellsouth.net

Good Luck
Steve

In my rear tailights, the breaklight component is not functioning. i replaced them with brand new lights. the center breaklight located in the back window is still working. Cant figure out why they wont...

Have had this problem many time's here at my shop, if center brake light come's on which you said it does, fuse and relay are good, the problem is your turn signal switch cause the brake light circuit goes through the switch, the switch is bad even though the turn signal's still work's, good luck, hope this was evrey helpful.

Taillight and Brakelight wont work

take a test light ground clamp to neg side of battery or on frame. turn key on, poke wires going to lights by the base of the taillight assembly.also check with brakes engaged. if no power there, check further down at the electrical connector plug.unplug it, touch pins w/ point,if none there, check for power at fuses to those circuits.if you have power to both side of fuse, but none to connector plug for taillight, check wiring in between. if there is power to the taillight assembly, check bulb socket for rust, corrosion, flattened bulb contacts,not grounding.
