Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S600 Digital Camera

Sony Cybershot DSC-S600 won't stay on

While my problem used to be that this camera drained batteries in no time, now, regardless of how new the batteries are, when I turn the cameron on, it registers on for a second, then shuts off.
Can anyone suggest something to try? Is it broken or is this a known problem?
Thanks in advance

No matter how many new or different brand batteries I put in my Sony Cybershot DSC-S600, it will only power on for a second, then shut off.

Thanks in advance for the solution.

Is the camera indicators showing that the battery you used was empty.. it is possible that you don't have the problem with the battery but within the camera where the problem was.. well it need to be repair and fix.

Hi,

Try removing the batteries and the mem card for few min. and then insert only the batteries and see if it turns on.

If it doesn't then i suggest you to replace it with new batteries.

You can try switching over to 2500 mAh Nickel Metal Hydride rechargeable batteries and you will see a difference.
Digital cameras with zoom lens need more power than what can be supplied by ordinary batteries.

The battery cover or CF card (SD card) slot cover is not securely closed

Most cameras have a lock mechanism on the battery cover. The camera will not turn on if the battery cover is not locked or securely closed, or if the CF card (SD card) slot cover is not securely closed. Make sure these covers are securely closed.

Please don't forget to rate or accept the solution.

Goodluck..

I would suggest to use the batteries with the following specs: Ni-MH AA 2500mAh. If you do use the mention batteries, I would suggest to take the camera back to Sony and ask them to fix if still under warranty. Most manufacturers give one year warranty.
Good Luck.

A question for you. when you put new batteries in the camera, and it powers on shortly, what condition does this leave the new batteries in? charged or discharged?

Have you tryed rechargeable batterys on the camera, generally they are higher quality and should work better.

when buying rechargeable batterys take a note of the capasity, the cheapest ones might not work that long. Cheap standard batterys can be useless after only a few shots.

there may be a internal issue which would require professional technical diagnosis and possible repairs or replacement parts, I've tryed to fix these myself but they are a real pain to but back together.

    Here is one repair place

    http://www.advancecamera.com/repair/

you can find more repair centers from the fixya repair directory. Or contact your dealer or sony directly.

1= Use rechargeable battery cells and must be fully charged.
2= Check battery terminals in camera battery compartment. Must be cleaned and shiny.
3= Sony camera DCS-S600 won't charge batteries through USB cable plugged in PC. You need external battery charger to charge battery cells.
