Ethernet connection I purchased an acer aspire 9300 laptop. It doesn't have a driver for the ethernet connection to my router/internet. It will only work with a usb connection. When I looked online I could not find a download for this. Can you help me?

Try these links. One of these should be the correct driver. If not, try driverguide.com. You will have to register with driver guide, but it's free.

Acer aspire 5551 can't connect to wireless

Three potential causes that I can think of, the first is that the driver may be out of date or corrupted, connect up to the internet using an ethernet cable and go to maker site and update drivers; second it could be the router itself, is there anything else in the house connected to the router and if so then is that working (if not then that's your problem) lastly it could be the wifi card, if so then this could be replaced but it might be easier for you to buy a usb wifi adapter which is basically plugged into usb port, you load drivers from disc that is supplied and off you go (ebay around 6 pound)

Wireless not working on acer aspire 5551a

Connect to internet using ethernet cable and update wifi driver from makers site, if this does not work then buy a usb wifi adapter off ebay or from a local store, put it into usb port and install the driver from the disc supplied with the adapter and off you go (far cheaper than replacing the wifi card)

Is your Telstra/Bigpond ADSL modem has a built-in wireless router?
If the ADSL modem has a built-in wireless router and your laptop does not have a wireless card, then you have two options to connect your laptop to the ADSL wireless router/Internet -
1. Purchase a PCMCIA wireless adapter and insert it into the PCMCIA slot in your laptop. One of my favourites is made by Netgear.
or
2. Purchase a USB wireless adapter, the only disadvantage with this solution is, it uses a USB port and if your laptop has only one USB port. This is a problem if you need to connect other USB devices. Then you also need to purchase a 4 port USB hub to give you additional USB ports.

We just purchased an acer aspire one for my daughter. When she tries to go onto the internet a message comes up that her internet adapter has been removed. Is this a device that plugs into a usb port? Does...

This computer has both ethernet & WiFi connection capability which should allow internet capability with the proper router.
Not sure why you are getting this message. I'd return it for exchange.

Ethernet-controller drivers for Acer Aspire 5520-5908 XP

Find a USB memory-stick, and find a computer with Internet access and an available USB port.
Put the memory-stick into the USB slot.
Browse to ACER's web-site, and select your specific model of the Aspire line, and select Windows XP, and select network-controllers, and download the device-drivers, and copy them onto the memory-stick,.
Walk the memory-stick to your Acer, and install the device-driver.

Trying to access the cd rom on a Acer Aspire 9300

When you go to safe mode, make sure that you go to "safe Mode with Networking", that way you can access the net. To make sure you have a good connection, get a long ethernat cable and connect it directly to the back of the router, in case the wireless driver fails. Get on the net forst, then try this site for your cd reading problem.....

Can't get internet access!!

The proper procedure in any router based network is to get the router on the network first. Plug it into the online cable modem and boot it up. Let it sit for a minute and then boot up wired computers one at a time. Use one of the wired PC's to get into the routers GUI (eg. 192.168.1.1) and see if WiFi is turned on and the permissions or wireless access is not being blocked by any security settings like MAC address or IP filters. It should be wide open. You dont need ANY drivers for a router on a PC unless they are USB drivers for a USB connection straight to the router, never seen one but I have seen a cable modem/router that had a USB connection. If your laptop has a USB wireless device, you need to load the drivers for that onto your laptop, but if it is using the built in ethernet port on the rear or a PC card ethernet card, you just need to plug the ethernet cable to the rear of the router and boot up. Make sure your ethernet device is enabled in windows and you should be good to go. After you gain access to the internet on the wireless device, get back into your router, prefferably on the wired computer and lock your network down with security measures like MAC address filtering, WEP, or other means.
