Have a Benq FP767 monitor. Got it back in 2003 or 4. Worked fine for years; even with new PC and video card. I would ordinarily leave my system unit on and turn off the monitor. Very recently, past couple of weeks, the monitor is not coming on immediately. When I would press the button, the indicator would gently flash off and on. It would take a few tries before getting the monitor to finally come on. I did see a brief flash or something on the screen that would imply "Monitor is old - need replacing". Is this a correct assessment? How long before I need to buy a new one?

FP767-v2 - 17" LCD Monitor: when you turn it on benq flashes on the screen...

Check the cable on your monitor through video card if there is loose connection. Check also the video card by replacing it with your extra video card if you have. I think the problem is not the monitor but the video card.

We have a Benq FP767. when we start the moniter than the screen appear blank and blinking LED light near on/off switch. what i do?

Have you attempted to enter the on-screen menu system for the monitor? There should be a reset system reset option somewhere in the menu selections. If not give that a try.
Also you might want to check your monitor cable. Unplug then replug it in. If you still have a blank screen you might want to try the cable on another monitor if that's possible.

If the cable is not the problem then that leaves the monitor itself or the video card if your system is equipped with one. Check the back connectors and locate the video output plug. If it is located close to the keyboard, mouse, Ethernet and usb plugs it is what's known as on-board video. If it is located below those other plugs it is a video card. Shut your system off and disconnect the power cable. Open up your case and make sure that the video card is seated correctly. They can come loose.

Your only other option is to try your monitor on another system.
I really hope something here helps. Good luck

Monitor says: "Out of range"

This means that a video signal has been detected but it is beyond the range for display. As an example, if the monitor can only display 1024x768 and you send it a signal at 1280x1024, you will get that message. Try to downsize the display settings on your computer system until the monotor works.

BenQ FP767 17" Power but no display?

Different faults here.
First fault is no power, it is bad capacitors on the power board.

Second & third faults are the inverters. (power but no image visible, but feint if you shine a light into the screen)
Check the 4 transistors on the main power board for shorts.

If you are unsure what that means, then take it to your local TV technician, he should be able to solve it fairly cheaply.

Hope that helps.
