Dvd rom

Hi TampaN,

I have a compaq nx9010 laptop with a toshiba sd c2612 dvd rom.
I am using windows xp professional 5.1 sp2.
Since I have reinstalled the windows,the dvd rom does not work properly.
If I put any kind of discs into the drive it would recognize as an audio cd with some kilobytes of size.
I tried plenty type of Windows install but none of them worked,and plenty modes of driver and firmware updates but all of them were in vain.
I have read about this at the microsoft home page(DMA and PIO settings)but I have not understood..


There were a computerist-as you-who found a solution one year ago.
He installed and made some changes at the windows,and worked well. Unfortunately I had to reinstall the xp last week but I can not make a contact with that computerist anymore.
