Go to the Garmon.com website. Check for an "update for your Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Receiver. Download the update which may take a while. It's best to start downloading and go do something else for a while until the download is complete.
try this type in the zip first if you have it then try your steet name if all else falls find the closet street to where you want to go see if it will let you load that street at least it will get you in the area you want to be in
Hard to solve over the net like this, but it sounds like your unit thinks you are somewhere other than your current location. This can happen if you turned the unit off at your destination and you aren't allowing it to update the location prior to typing in the street name.
So turn the unit on and click on the View Map icon to see where IT thinks it is. If it's somewhere else, check the satellite bars and make sure they are GREEN. (You may have to go outside to get reception.)
If your device is showing you at the correct location, I'm at a loss on what to advise.
Is Long Lake Road fairly new? If so, it may just not be on the maps yet.
Another "work-around" (government jargon) is to use a USB cable to connect to your computer, and then use the Maps from Google to find your address. Once you do, you can transfer the address to your Garmin by selecting the "Send" link on the box the points to the location on the map.
It searches the database for street names. keep typing your street name until it is the only one availiable. If it cannot find your street, then either: you are spelling it wrong, you have the wrong city/state or the street is newer than the database
Yes Nickarino is right.
When I switched on my new tom tom it gave me that option to speak street names and it vanished after selected a different voice.
I checked all manuals and web references in Tom Tom - none of them list it.
Like Nick said - what you need to do is swtich the voice type to SAMANTHA and it will show the option "Read Street Names Loudly".
I jumped on it and said yes ..!!!
Thanks Nick !!
The Garmin may not recognize the street name you are entering due to a scroll error. When you type, it constantly looks up streets beginning with the letters you already entered. If you happen to hit a wrong letter, it automatically errors out. Have you updated the unit recently? If not try that first.
Load USB drivers to PC (if not done already), connect Garmin, turn Garmin on, run webupdater, follow on screen prompts.
To find streets that are numerical, not names, enter the address normally to start. Enter the State, City, and House Number. When it asks you to enter the street, look at the bottom of the keyboard. You will see a key marked 123. Press this key, and numbers will show up instead of letters. Type in just the numbers (25 for 25th Avenue, etc.) and hit Done. The street should show as (25th (St., Ave., etc)). Press the correct entry.
