Try pressing the power button for approx. 5 sec and see if the power LED turns off. If so,remove all cables including the power cable, monitor cable, keyboard and mouse).
Press power button for approx 15 sec again to discharge any excess power.
Reconnect the cables (power cable last) at the back of the tower/computer and power on the system.
Also, try removing and re-seating all ram modules
If the problem persists it's probably the power supply. If you know how to remove a power supply they are pretty easy to test There are some videos on youtube that show the proper way (view a few of them
Basically you can jump( use a bent paper clip), the green wire to the black one beside it or to the left if they're on both sides, BUT!!YOU MUST HAVE SOMETHING ATTACHED TO THE SUPPLY THAT WILL POWER UP!! An old fan, hdd, something.
Hope this helps you...good luck

need to know the model # and type of computer? Remove all external devices except mouse, keyboard and monitor. If not getting any power at all, could be your power supply.

SOURCE: Flashing Green light on back and tower won't come on.

Yes, you should try replacing the power supply first. If that doesn't work, then it could be a bad motherboard.

SOURCE: Flashing Green Power Light on Tower

Try holding down the power for a full minute or two then start it up again. The power button may be set for sleep and not shut down. You may have to hold the button longer. If that doesn't work it could be RAM, or a serious problem with the motherboard.

SOURCE: green light blinking on back of my system unit but there is no power

I had turned off the power strip to my computer last night...just trying to reduce energy use after reading about home energy waste with little built-in lights. This morning, I had the "flashing green light" problem when I turned things back on... and tried the dryer method. It worked! Does anyone know why this happens?
Thank you so much for this tip.

Why is my hp pavilion a1220n product number ED904AA-ABA?

Try removing the 512 MB memory to see if it does work with the 1GB stick only.

It's not the power supply that does have a problem. It has something with your memory stick.

The tower wont turn on at all, there is a flashing green light that is on in the back of the tower itself. what could be wrong with it?

If it is unable to boot at all, I mean nothing at all such as fan/ lights from the front panel, then your powersupply bad, and needs replacement.

Bad Power Supply. Weak voltage power rail.

The Green LED flashing on the back is now a diagnostic light, and is conveying the above.

Allow me to show you using HP as an example,

Screen will not come on hard drive light no light checked power supply is ok

Things to check:
  1. Power led on the front of the tower, it should be solid green when on. Flashing Amber is generally an indication of a bad power supply inside the tower
  2. Power LED Solid AMBER indicates system is not finishing the power on self test (POST) and you remove all connections from the tower except power and try turning on again. If no change, remove all PCI and PCI-E cards from system, try again, no change replace motherboard.
  3. On the back of the tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs near the ps2 ports marked ABCD, after the POST, during a normal boot the will flash in several sequences and with boot is finished all 4 should be green. If they stop an a different pattern, then that indicates a failure Yellow Yellow Green Green indicate bad RAM for example
  4. If the LEDs on front and back are Green then the system appears to be booting but the monitor display is not functional

Green light blinking screen blank

Hi Suzee,

Is the green flashing on the tower or the monitor?

If it is flashing on the monitor, then it might be tht the monitor is not gettign signal from the tower.
To check, disconnect the monitor from the tower and check the monitor. If you get a msg on the screen like no input signal or check video cable, then 99% monitor is fine.

Check for the power supply light at the back of the tower.

Disconnect everything from the computer and then press and hold the power button on the comp for about 30 seconds.

Then connect the cables and check if it is working.
