Scanner problem again -- HELP! junk 'solution' given

When i try to set up the 'scan to' option, i get the error message 'no scan options' and 'refer to device manual to troubleshoot' -- of course the manual has no such info.

thanks for this pointer -- i ran it and then ended up at HP tech support. turns out that there is NO out of the box driver for scanning on this printer/scanner/etc combo and a machine using Vista -- we figure out a work around but that hasn't proven to be reliable --

no fix from HP coming -- this 'new' printer is out of date and not of interest to HP anymore

    thanks for your help

Just check that can you scan from HP Solution Center, if yes. Then perform the steps given below to resolve the issue.

Open HP solution center:
CLick on settings:
select scan settings from settings.:
A Menu Appears.
select scan to setup:
a new page will appear:
you will see all options on the left side:
select all the options manually and click on the right arrow
to move all the options from left to right side.
after perfoming these steps.
Restart the printer:
and try scanning from printer now.
now will be able to scan from printer itself.

Can't scan- Refer to device documentation to

Try using widows paint. Look in windows accessories off the start program menu. If you open windows paint, look for open file from "Scanner or Camera". Most likely you can get the scanner to work again in Vista. Otherwise...try Vuescan scanner software. I think you can get a free trial period online and it should also work. You'll have to pay for that if you like it.

oh This is a simple solution open up the hp solution centre icon or the hp director icon whichever your printer software has on the computer.
Then click on settings.
point to scan settings and click on scan to setup and on all the items on the left hand side select them and move them to the right hand side and click on the ok button or the update the device button and you will not face this issue anymore.
your printer software should be installed so that you dont get this error message anymore
