Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

RCA 32'' TruFlat

I dropped my tv a short distance but it was enough to dislodge my flyback from its support clips and took a nasty chunk out of the (mother board). Could you help me by referring to the best places to acquire this board as well as a flyback as mine found itself into a HV project, lol. thank you for all your help.

SOURCE: substitute flyback transformer 257805 causing skewed picture on flat screen

you have a pin cushion problem Checking the resistance to ground at DL04(K) found it was 8 ohms. Disconnecting the Pin modulator board at connector HL83 cleared the 8 ohms indicating the 8 ohms was caused by the Pin modulator board. Closer observation a capacitor CL85 a 6.8 mfd electrolytic, finds it to be vented and it was causing the 8 ohm short. Replacing HL85 pn 238292. This corrected the symptom.

SOURCE: RCA LCD TV INVERTER BOARD

I have a new power/inverter board for a L32HD32D RCA 32" flat screen LCD TV. Make offer, 1-907-225-2337 I'll ship it USPS in the box it came in.
LS2HD32 CEG379B CAJAID, CAJA4465 1114363 are some numbers on the package it came in. You might try LPS#1 on the ribbon cables & their video board connection for the LCD by opening the back 4x5" pannel in the middle & clean reinstall them ? That's what fixed my TV, maybe. So I don't need the board now. It's only about a 5 minute job to clean the 2 ribbon cables.
Sincerely Bitdog

Hi my RCA 27 Truflat tv keeps changing channels , the volume keeps going all the way up and it is turning it's self on and off. What could be the problem and how to fix? THanks

The micro buttons on the tv are causing the problem. Mine kept going up in the channels like you are holding the button down. I took the button board and clipped to prongs on the micro switch to the channel up button. It has three prongs on one side and two on the other that you clip.I use the remote all the time any way and it will not affect that.

You need to figure out which one it is by watching the channel direction up or down. Careful of HIGH voltage in back of TV even unplugged.

36" RCA- loud whine/squeal when it is plugged in, otherwise no power.

The HOT Hortz output transistor has gone home, 99% of the time from a faulty IVHT (Flyback Transformer), very common on the ctc187cl* chassis. The factory Flyback is no longer available, I have had problems finding an aftermarket one to replace it with.

The HOT is a BUH517, but you can also use a 2SD5129. It is the transistor mounted on the siler heat sink with a metal clip rather than a screw, just in front of the flyback.....

If you replace just the HOT, most of the time you will get a rapid arc (27,000volts - BE CAREFUL!!!) from the lower (yoke) post on the flyback. If the flyback is shorted, It may also just burn out the HOT and go right back to "squealing"....

Good luck finding the flyback!!!

RCA(32 inch)

It is possible to repair it yourself. Let me caution you though. There are a number of generic manufacturers that sell replacement flyback transformers at less $$ than the original. The shop is most likety using the factory original which runs in the $75 range. Figuring on a typical labor rate of $125 for a 32" set gets you to the $200 figure. Realize also, that the $200 will include any other supportive parts that may be required in all probability as well as at least a 90 day guarantee.

RCA TELEVISION

Heres the fix for your set, replace the following 2 parts:

1) flyback transformer RCA part number 257805
2) horizontal output transistor RCA part number 237470
you must be proficient at soldering & un-soldering or you can`t replace these yourself, be advised that the anode lead coming from the top of the flyback transformer can carry a VERY NASTY shock if not discharged properly before trying to remove it from the picture tube, I`d strongly advise you to call a tech unless your familiar with this type of repair, BMW Rider

Won't work

It sounds like something in the high voltage (flyback) circuit failed. If any little thing shorts in these RCA's they will not start up. Stargazer

Sounds like you have a shorted horizontal out put transistor and bad flyback transformer. This is a common problem in the newer RCA's. I've had serveral of them do this. The noise that you hear is the power supply telling you that it's overloaded. Stargazer
