Please check your message setting. There should be sms centre 1, ... 2 and so on, in your handphone. And or get advised from your operator regarding this matter.

i'm also using nokia 5300 xp msc. It will hang when you start or on the handphone. Sometimes it also will restart automatically.
it your screen became white? nokia 5300 ,it need you to reduce mesagge(inbox, outbox )size that you use. I'm always save my mesagge to pc using pc suite . This because handphone memory is not to big. it around 5mb-3mb. When you have many message in inbox ,outbox or save folder, it will make your phone memory became low. other things all picture, video,song I save it in memory card.
if your handphone have white scrreen. Then you can save it. On phone without memory card. and wait until your phone is ready to use.before this, I also face this problem, and sometimes it does not have response and hang always. After I get that phone ready to use, I'm delete message and save to pc using pc suite. It need more time. But it more easy rather that you using phone to delete one by one that message that you dont want. Try it. good luck

this solves your messaging problem ... Good luck
it is due to the wrong message center no.so goto message options and select text message settings then change the correct message no.(it will get from your service provider)
Please check your message profile (you have to do this from the message settings) and make sure that the sms center number matches with another user of the same Network Operator. If not change it and save. You can also restore this by doing the "factory restore".
