Hi.

Your problem will be with the manifold on the front left hand side this is the part that slides back & forth as you pull handle back & up.

remove instection port from the manifold.
Try pulling back the handle while trying to slide manifold up & forward as it moves the handle will go back.

Why won't my Dyson DC28 animal handle won't tilt down to vacuum

Hi Robert, it's Jack at Dyson.

If you're having difficulty reclining your DC28 from the upright position, it's possible something like a pen or pencil has been accidentally vacuumed up, and is jamming the changeover valve.

Our Support guide should help you check for this: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc28/dc28-animal/using-my-dyson-list/redirect-to-flo-dc07-gen-how-to-remove-a-blockage/flo-dc07-gen-how-to-remove-a-blockage/redirect-to-check-ubend-cover-dc28/check-ubend-cover-dc28

I've borrowed my sister's Dyson(she's away on vacation) to see how hell it works. The problem I'm having is that I can't find the release button to tilt the powerhead back towards me,...

Hi there,

The DC07 is engineered to recline into the vacuuming position without a release button - just place one foot on the cleaner head, and tilt the handle back.

For more advice on using the cleaner, you might want to refer to the user guide. If you don't have this to hand, you can download a copy here:

If you have any further questions about using or maintaining the Dyson which aren't covered by the user guide, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

My Dyson will not click back into a locking upright position? Any suggestions?

Hi,

Try this quick repair and see if this fixes your Dyson in terms of not going in the upright position: This is a frequent problem that we see come in on Dysons. If this doesn't fix it, please feel free to just use the clarification request and let me know this didn't fix it.

Step 1.
Turn power off and unplug the machine.
Tilt the machine backward to a 45° angle.

Step 2.
  • Hold the section under the airway inspection pipe.
  • The black forward lock button must be held down simultaneously, otherwise the valve carriage will not move.
  • Pivot this section upwards until it clicks into place.
  • Release the black button once the valve pipe carriage is moved up into place.

    Step 3.

    • Tilt the machine forward.
    • The cleaner head should now slide underneath the part you have just clicked into place.
    • The machine should now stand upright.

Dyson dc07 suction when upright but no suction when tilted in operate position

Not sure if this will definitely fix the problem.......but here goes for anyone with the same problem....spoke to Dyson helpdesk today following some online research i did yesterday. The 'internet' view is that there is a design fault with the cyclone chamber of the DC07 and that older models need it replaced. Mine is a 2003 model and Dyson asked me if there was a Number 1 stamped on the back of the cyclone housing near where the air duct connects to the hoover body....there wasn't. They then said they would send out a new cyclone chamber free of charge (I bought my model as reconditioned in 2007 from an approved Dyson dealer, so no Dyson warranty) suggesting they are aware of a problem. Advice on another site by someone who was also sent a new cyclone is that the holes in the early cyclones were too small and got easily clogged. I'm now waiting for my new part and will see if that fixes it.
very strange though - my old DC01 was a far better model from what I have seen so far of the DC07 - they seem to have gone backwards in design & reliability.
Very impressed with the service from their helpdesk though - they put other companies to shame with their speed of answering the phone and the ability to actually talk to someone not just a series of automated menus - well done Dyson for that at least - I'll reserve judgement on the DC07!!!.

    No suction in upright position

Check the adapters at the bottom. They're supposed to move cleanly when you lower the handle. It's pretty obvious if there's an air gap when you lower the handle, and you should hear the suction in the air gap.

    And...call Dyson...their support is great!
