I'm not sure where you were going with this, but I believe you can fix this yourself. Run a virus scan, then go into the virus vault in the anti virus software and empty the vault. If the virus did damage to the operating system, do a system restore. However if the operating system is damaged beyond repair or restore, you will need to do a system reload using either a recovery disc or an operating system disc. If you don't have these discs you can purchase a Windows operating disc at Walmart or Bestbuy.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Free online virus removal

Online virus removal can be a bit tricky at best - often trading their 'free' service for (other apps with) malware, spyware and other viruses. A better option might be to install a free antivirus program instead. AVG Free and Windows Defender/Microsoft Security Essentials (for Windows-based PC's) are both great options - among several others, and won't cost you a cent.

There are two really good virus removers for your Acer Bitdefender Antivirus Plus (around $30.00) and Panda Antivirus Pro (around $40.00) you can find out where to get them at, I have used the bitdefender and it is excellent. Hope this was helpful.

My McAfee advised me that AegisUpdate (in my laptop) was trying to access the internet to update this. Have no idea what this is. When searched to find out, didn't like what I saw... slows down laptop,...

that is will say that he will scan your computer for viruses but it will upload you viruses that will prompt you to puuchase thier virus protection software. never ever scan your computer using the internet web. it happen to me before. the solution now is you need to reformat your computer to remove all the viruses they install.

Bit defender is a high rated anti virus and firewall. It costs money so if you want one for free, I would go with Avast. Good luck.

Last night I received a Yahoo Instant message from a 'friend' in the Dominican Republic. Accompanying this message was a hyperlink referring me to a photograph I should look at on Facebook.I tried...

This is clearly a virus. I think your best shot is to take the computer to technician and ask him to try and save the data if you have something really important. Restoring data may cost quite a lot of money, so I would advise you to only do this if you have something really really important. If you do not have any crucial information on your laptop, I would suggest to format the laptop and install the windows anew.
Viruses tend to implement themselves and reinstalling the windows with no format is still too risky. I know that a lot of people will tell you to run an anti virus and let it take care of the virus for you, but in the bottom line- it doesn't remove the virus, simply because viruses are updating on a daily basis and anti-viruses can't keep up
