Boot manager problem

Actually, I can answer you without knowing the model, because it's fairly common to the Acer Aspire in general. The error you are receiving technically means that there is a drive failure, but the error is erroneous. The problem is, you can try to do the recovery until you're blue in the face, or until the cows come home. You know, until the end of time, and you will still get that error. What you have to do to get rid of the error is to delete any existing partitions on the drive. Just be aware that when you do this, you are deleting the Acer recovery partition as well. But if you have the recovery discs, you should be in good shape.
Now to to delete the partitions is pretty simple. Download the ISO image at the page below and boot to it. It has a bunch of utilities on it that will be available after you boot. You can simply type fdisk and use that to delete the partitions.
Then boot again from the restore discs and you should be all set.

Acer aspire t180 restore to factory settings on start up

You will need to use the recovery discs that came with the computer and boot from the disc and it will give you the option to restore to factory defaults. If you dont have the discs you will need to contact Acer to get a copy.

I have lack knowledge when using computers, please teach me how to reformat my acer aspire m5640?

Hi ourkiddys...
How to reinstall the Operating system on your computer

Select models, with Microsoft Windows, have the ability to have the Operating System reinstalled from a hidden partition built into the computer.Note: During the process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. This means all your files, such as email and photos, will be erased. Therefore, we recommend making a backup of all personal data before starting the recovery process.
To start the system recovery:
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
3.If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
4.After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form..
Note: If your computer does not have an internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
3.Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
4.Close the CD-ROM tray.
5.Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
6.The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
7.When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.

Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.

8.After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: if your computer is unable to run the Acer Recovery process, or errors occur during recovery, please contact Acer support.

I've looked at the ACER Website and it appears that you should try to boot to SAFE MODE by pressing F8 at boot. If you're able to do so, you should find the ACER eRocovery application in the Programs Menu. This may allow you to recover from a hidden recovery partition, or it may require you to have made a set of recovery discs with the eRecovery Utility that came with the system. If you did not do so, then your only alternative would be to contact ACER and ask if you can purchase a set of recovery CD's.
I've had a lot of luck contacting ACER Corporate at the following phone number and pleading my case for the product owner and gotten great customer service this way, much better than calling the regular support number.

You need a Windows OS install or upgrade disc appropriate for the one on your computer (including the service packs you have installed). The Acer disc will only restore to the original configuration. You will need to try to get an OS disc from Microsoft (difficult if your computer is out of warranty) or from someone who has one. Try locating a Windows User's Group (many of the members have multiple OS discs and will lend them out) in your area or a local repair person. Then you can use the Recovery Console.

Alternatively, get a Unix CD and an external hard drive or optical disc writer. Boot from the Unix CD (usually you can press F12 to access the choose boot location). Then plug in the USB hard drive or optical disc drive. Mount this disc and copy your important data from the non-bootable disc to the external media. Then run the Acer disc and download all the updates before trying to reinstall software and return the files to your machine from the .

In Win7, everyone can create this from Start > All Programs > Maintenance > Create a System Repair Disc. (So then you get one burned from any Win7 computer as long as you match Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate.)

I hope this helps.

(please note that if your restore disc provides an OS earlier than XP SP3, Windows Update will not work. You will have to manually find the updates on microsoft.com)

Hi My acer t135 will not boot up properly when

First of all you must recover your files: download and burn a Linux Live-CD, boot from it and move your files to an USB stick.
All older Acer's have a hidden recovery partition. Check in the BIOS (F2 to boot on my Acer): that Acer Disk to Disk Recovery is activated in the Main panel, which D2D Recovery is well on Enabled. To access it press ALT + F10 once the Acer logo is displayed.
If you don't have one borrow from a friend a retail XP disk and do a Repair or Inplace Upgrade install.

Acer aspire not loading to windows

Hi,

If you have recovery disc or back up disc put it in and restart the PC and start tapping the F12 key until at the Acer splash screen, you should get now see your boot order, now use your up and down cursor key to highlight the CD/DVD drive and then press enter, this will now start the recovery disc that you put in, just follow the on-screen instructions.

If you don't have a disc, restart the PC and at the Acer splash screen start tapping the ALT+F10 or just F10 and if you have a recovery partition on your hardrive then the recovery program will start up, just follow the on-screen instructions.

Thanks

Interrupted set-up installation of ACer Aspire T690--Now what?

Hi there.

Not sure if you've answered this, but have you tried to boot from the Windows disc again, and re-install Windows from the beginning? As this would re-format the drive.

PC freezes on boot-up

Try booting the thing in Safe Mode. Upon startup (after the Acer logo goes) press F8 several times. You will be offered a menu select Safe Mode (at the very top of the list). If the system reaches the desktop, you can repair your Windows. For the three fixes below you will need to go Start Menu>Run...
1) Write: fixmbr, and press ENTER.
2) Write: fixboot, and press ENTER.
3) Write: chkdsk, and press ENTER.
(The later will take several minutes, but you can read what stage it is doing).
