My Canon Rebel XT shows a CF Error , I changed the card and when I tried to format it shows error 99. THe Vattery is new and fully charged and right about the middle of the CF socket there are apparently...

Welcome to Fixya
Err 99 could means several different things, such as... Memory Card, Lens or Lens contacts....

Here's what you can try:

Remove the memory card an enable "shooting with out memory card" and see if you still get the error. If it works your memory card is bad. Try another lens if you can. Clean the lens contacts with a pencil eraser (be careful not to get eraser dust in the camera body or in the lens). Worst case scenario is, Err 99 could be related to the shutter failing which would mean a trip to Canon.

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Hello! I have a SANYO VPC E1090 digital camera. When I turn iton the LCD screen has a red bar across the top and says "Lens Error 0x0311" and then powers down. Do you have any suggestions other than...

The lens error refers to a 'binding' in the mechanism for focusing.

The camera will not operate if this error exists. So, it's important for the owner to try to seek repair service for the camera.

My sanyou vpc-e1292 camera says lens error then it turns off. What is wrong?

Usually this means that the motor is binding for the lens focusing in and out distance wise. This symptom can be caused by physically blocking the lense from focusing in and out with a finger or hand.

It could be due to a lack of lubrication or binding of the lens focusing gear.

A webpage describing how to contact sanyo service centers follows:

When I try to power on it reads 'Lens error' and shuts off. Thank you

Check to make sure that there's no binding of the lens assembly or lens door mechanism. See if you can (GENTLY) coax the lens out while powering it on. If not, the case is probably damaged, causing the binding.

Lens error 12 and 22!!!

The movement of the lens is motor driven. When you turn the camera on, the lens moves. The error 12, error 14, and error 22 refer to control stages in the lens movement ( I think error 22 means the lens won't retract). The lens housing and gear mechanism in this camera is plastic. If there is dust, sand, or debris around the lens housing, it may bind the lens when it trys to extend or retract. By banging it, you might work the gears loose or dislodge whatever is binding the lens (same with the "canned air" blowing out the dust). We've purchased a bunch of these cameras for our electricians in the field. Several have come back with this problem. I've taken the case off, and torn the lens assembly apart, only to find the plastic gears have been "buggered up". It's an inexpensive camera. Try to clean around the lens, give it a few slaps, push/pull the lens.... but failing this fix, buy a new one. Good Luck!

Nikon coolpix 800 will not turn on hums and shows system error in disply

Having seen this before, it's an autofocus motor issue in the lens assembly binding up. This will likely require service by a professional.
