SOURCE: NEC MultiSync MT810 Projector when turn on , a

If the light is blinking red, it means the projector has a bad lamp or the lamp housing is incorrectly attached.

After you lamp has been operating for 2000 hours or longer, the "status" light in the cabinet will go on. The projector will turn off and go into stand by mode after 2100 hours of service. If this happens, be sure to replace the lamp. If you continue to use the lamp after 2000 hours of use, the lamp bulb may shatter, and pieces of glass may be scattered in the lamp case.

To replace the lamp:

  1. Remove the single screw that secures the lamp housing cover and remove the cover.
  2. Remove the two screws securing the lamp case. (There is an interlock on this case to prevent the risk of electrical shock. Do not attempt to circumvent this interlock.)
  3. Remove the lamp by pulling out the complete assembly.
  4. Install a new lamp case assembly and secure it in place with the two screws.
  5. Reattach the lamp cover and reinstall the single screw.
  6. After you install a new lamp, select the lamp Usage icon and press and hold the "Power On" button on the remote control for ten seconds to reset the lamp time clock to zero. Note: If resetting the lamp clock back to zero after 2100 hours of service, press the "Power Off" (not "Power On") button on the remote control for ten seconds.
Note: When you replace the lamp, it is also wise to replace the filter.

SOURCE: hi there! i have this

It sounds like a polarising lens has failed, if so it will probably be cheaper to buy a new NEC NP115 which has probably got the same if not better specification.

Hopefully I was of help to you

I have a nec vt590 projector. When you watch a movie. A big spot appears in the center of the screen. I believe one of the three lcd panels that is attached to the lense has overheated and is distorting...

If it is a bluish colour then the organic polarizer plate that allows the blue light to pass through it to the blue lcd panel is burnt due to old age.
If the spot is made up of pixel shaped spots rather than a blurred area, then perhaps the lcd panel is faulty, but this is less frequently the case.
You could disconnect the power cable and remove the cover and look at the optics parts to check where any overheated parts can be found.
Then you can be certain which bits to replace.
Another option is to buy a faulty VT590 unit off ebay for a fraction of the price and have a go at swapping the parts between the units.
The lcd panels can be removed and replaced, but require precision alignment and you need the extender cables to be able to do it successfully. So give that a miss, replace the whole lcd prism assembly as one item.
Hope this helps.

NEC MT800 Projector with Vertical Lines in picture

The ghosting problem is a combination of both the lcds and driver boards in which case neither need to be truely replaced.. They use a specific voltage to transmit data to the lcds.. Each lcd is different and the driver board is programmed by the factory for the EE setting. Unfortunatly with nec, they do not offer a service mode to go in and adjust the ee settings to correct the electrical convergance. So the only way to fix the problem is to replace the lcd with a newer one who wasnt worn out from long term heat.
