Hey direwolf,

According to information provided by the manufacturer, this model router carries a 90-day warranty for all software-related issues and a 2-year warranty for all hardware-related issues. You should be able to find the full terms and conditions by following the link to Motorola's support site that I've provided below:

http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/WR850g/downloads/WR850G_Warranty.pdf

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Dear Sir,
Welcome to fixya....
Please let us tell you about the wireless internet connectivity, for connecting to a wireless medium you must have a wireless (wiFi) card installed to you system which can serve the function of sending and receiving wireless data signals, which unfortunately are not commonly pre-installed int desktop computers.. the alternative to them are external cards and antennas(wireless routers) which can serve the purpose.. such a d-link or tp-link.... please rate this solution and then visit this website in order to switch to d-link official website where u can search your product and where to buy it....

Hey

I need to know a few things about the network.

So you have a motorola modem, could you look at its bottom label and tell me its brand and model.

So that modem is connected to the internet, and a cable from this modem goes to a router yes? no? And is it connected on the DSL, or INTERNET port on the router? most likely separate from other ports and may have different coloring.

And then from there, are you connecting wirelessly to the router or with wires?

I got wireless hooked up but it wont connect & it just tells me its scanning.

Hello

more information is needed to answer your problem.

Is this a laptop? Brand and model please? Also do you have a wireless router in the house? Has anything been done to it yet?

Do you know the name of the network you should be connecting to?

I CAN NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET ..using Linksy wireless remote

the wireless card installed to your computer is working..as you said you can view all wireless networks...your computer is good too...the only issue is you cant connect to the wireless router...

turn off and unplug the power cable of the Modem
turn off and unplug the power cable the router

wait for 30 seconds
plug in and turn on the modem, wait for all the light turn to solid green ( no blinking lights )

then power on the router

if you saw the wireless icon light turn solid...

go to your computer...right click the wireless icon...select repair

if this doesnt work....reset your internet router by press and hold the reset button behind the router near the power plug (atleast 15 sec)

then connect your PC..the wireless network dont have the WEP key anymore because of the reset..you can reconfigure and put back the WEP key when you get connected.

You need to access your router's setup page using a computer that is wired to your router. You need to verify the wireless settuings and security enabled in your router.

Would like to password protect my home wireless network. Using Belkin N Router

Hello,

Since I didn't see the exact model listed I will give you a broad description of how it should be configured.

First, Ill give the link to find the manual for you specific model. The model can usually be found on the bottom of your product.

http://www.belkin.com/support/

You will be able to enter the model number in the Product Support Search field and then click the arrow on the right side of that field. Then verify your selection by clicking the model number again in the Select a product field. Once you have done that, you will see a list of download that may include a link for the manual, wireless security configuration information, and also software (firmware) updates for your particular model.

In the manual I would suggest looking at the security sections, especially the WEP security and the MAC address Control section. This should help you setup the router securely.

If these instructions are too broad please supply us with the model number and we can give you specific instructions.

I hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

Other people seem to be able to access our wireless connection. how do we secure it as we cant find passwords in the instructions or on the disc. Please help thanku.

You need to log into your routers programming and set a WEP key... Or rename the SSID to something like your last name and tell it NOT to broadcast. Whenever your done write all the information down in a safe place. Then you'll need to re-run the wireless network setup wizard on PC's and tell it what the new SSID is and if you used a WEP key you'll need to tell it that too.

Whats the exact brand/model # for your router?

I am using a Linksys Wireless -G Router 2.4 GHz. While I can access AOL it is with an unsecured connection. How can I change this to a secure connection?

Hello Aberlin746,

The most secure way to connect to the Internet would be to connect to your router via a wired connection rather than wirelessly. Wireless security is pretty easy to defeat.

That's not always an option or convenient though so, beefing up your wireless security and using a firewall (software) would be in order.

Linksys, as it happens, has tutorials on networking security. You can find them HERE.

You'll need to know how to configure your router as well (in order to implement the suggestions Linksys offers).

So, please, go HERE and choose your router's model number. You'll then be taken to a page where you will have access to downloads, FAQs and manual(s) for your router.

W/ respect to a software firewall, I've used Comodo Personal Firewall for years.
(A) It's **free**
(B) It is **very** effective
(C) It isn't a resource hog (it doesn't bog down your system) like so many firewall and antivirus products available from major manufacturers today.
(D) When you disable it, it REALLY is disabled. So, if you're having configuration problems, you don't have to uninstall the product to get your Internet access working again. (Unlike w/ firewall products from Zone Labs, Symantec's Norton line, and McAfee).
(E) When it's uninstalled, it REALLY is uninstalled. It doesn't leave a mess in its wake like the major manufacturer's products I've already mentioned.
