Question about Mitsubishi WS-65513 65" Rear Projection HDTV

2 Answers

Convergence The convergence has screwed up on my mitsubishi 65" big screen TV. This happened after we moved the TV from one side of the room to the other. I am figuring that vibration has caused this. I do not remember the model number of the TV right now, so the product information that I have to give you is probably not accurate. I will probably never find this site again so email me at steven@qtm.net if you think you can point me in the right direction. Thanx! for your time and for being a Guru! Steven

    Color is also messed up on our 65" Diamond 1080. We had to move the TV out from the wall and then back. Now the tint and color is off. Have tried convergence and advanced convergence. Any advice?

    Well, I am a dummy. The day you sent me the email, the TV started working correctly. Now the TV has screwed up again. It is a Mitsubishi WS-A65. I do not know where the convergence chips are to resolder them. Where can I order new chips if I need them?

    Thank you again!

    OK, I went to pull out the board today but ran into a problem. On the right and left sides of the center board there are little white connectors with what seems to be a ribbon cable attached to each board next to the center. I could not figure out how to disconnect these ribbon cables so I could remove the center board. ..sigh..

    They are located on the center circuit board on the large heat sink. You will see them as soon as you remove the rear cover they are both side by side on that center board right on the oter edge. They are both STK392-110 Ics you can get replacement ICs with free instalations with pictures at the following link.

    can you send a pic of the connectors as some are bridged connectors that pivot up and others have a lock mechanism that pivots and then the cable lifts out a pic would tell me which ones you have.

Mitsubishi Convergence issue

If the screen is out of focus you probably need to adjust the focus on the focus block it is usually located behind the front grill, there are 6 adjustment screws on this block, leave the screen controls along just adjust the red, green, and blue focus screws. When converging a set everything is converged to the green, the blue and red are suppose to come to the green.

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Red convergence problem - Mitsubishi 65

It sounds like your red gun might be close to going, we had the same problem our tv. The red was off and couldnt really be adjusted but the others were alright. We were told that the red gun was nearing the end of its life and it could cost upwards of $1000 to fix, so we just got a new tv. i would suggest having a tv tech come out and look just to make sure, but thats wut it sounds like.

Good Day;

You have poor connections on your "convergence IC's. Middle board IC's on large silver heat sink. Redo solder before total failure. Good Luck, big IRISH.

You have a convergence problem,all this sets show this problem sooner or later,you have 2 or 3 amps for the red,green blue colors and this amps go bad and need to be replaced then you have to do a convergence aligment from the service mode and not form the customer controls,a qualified tech should be able to correct the problem since is a common one.

Good Day, jhazelwd;
From what you say it sounds like the Convergence IC's have failed. Part number 267P150010, STK392-570, replace both IC's. They are on the middle board secured to a large heat sink.
Good Luck, big IRISH.
