adobe flash is not that preferable in playing dvds.however u can play ".flv" videos using flash.

if you want to play dvds with maximum speed and effeciency,i stongly suggest u to install "vlc media player". it is a free software and is available on the net

I can't play dvds or open burn dvd media. what do you think i should do?

one problem i see is that your DVD drive is not properly cleaned or maintained. if that is so, you can just buy a CD, DVD lens cleaner and let it run onto your drive but if if this fails, maybe the lens is actually damaged. there are also DVD RW combo drives that reads only CDs after a long time use. this is cause by the lens' capability to detect DVDs or CDs played. as time goes by, lenses wears out.i suggest that if this is your problem, try to buy a new drive for your PC.

What program do I need to play DVDs. Thanks

You can use Windows Media Player if the conditions are met as outlined on Microsoft with this link:

Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.

I know this probably doesn't qualify as a 'solution', but try using VLC to play your DVDs instead of Media Player. From what I understand, Media Player has a whole host of issues with DVD playback.

VLC is free and can be downloaded from here:

Hope this helps!

I dont know how to play dvds on ancer 5610z

Here's something to try:

1) Make sure you are inserting your DVD in a DVD drive. (Usually has a DVD logo on the tray.)
2) With the computer on, insert a DVD in the DVD drive and wait for a box to pop-up. (If a box does not pop up, Go to "My Computer" and double-click on the DVD drive.)
3) Choose to open in a software capable of playing DVDs. (Windows Media Player, PowerDVD, ect.)

If the the software does not play the DVD, this could indicate a missing codec or a hardware problem.

Computer

From what I have found, that system should come with a DVD-RW drive by default.
  1. Check device manager, see if the drive is detected by Windows as a DVD type drive.
  2. If the drive is ID'd as a DVD drive, but will not browse a DVD movie in MY COMPUTER then there is a failure of the DVD optics of the drive and it needs to be replaced.
  3. If you can browse a DVD, but not play one, then you most likely need a DVD codec installed to read DVDs. Search google for the K-Lite Codec pack.
  4. If you are trying to burn to DVD media, ensure you have a DVD buring software installed as XP has no native DVD burn capability.

DVD drive

If your drive doesn't read dvd disks anymore

it is either a dirty (http://www.amazon.com/Memorex-CD-DVD-Player-Laser-Lens-Cleaner/dp/B00008EM7U) or faulty lens or other problem in the circuit board. You can try upgradeing the firmware but Im quite sure it won't fix the problem. If you have warranty get the drive repaired/replaced or buy a new one.
