Problem hooking up DVD player to TV thru my cable box

Chances are you've got your DVD player hooked to OUPUT jacks on the cable box, not inputs. I haven't yet seen a box that takes any kind of an input other than the cable line, but they will have RCA jacks for audio and video outputs on the back. So your cable channels are fine, but the DVD signal is hitting a dead end.

The only solution if your TV doesn't have RCA inputs for video and audio is to get an RF converter (around $10-$20). This takes the A/V signals from your DVD and turns them into a channel 3 or 4 signal that connects to your TV's antenna input.

The converter also has a connector on the back for the cable coming from the cable box, since you'll have to disconnect that from the TV. When the DVD player is off, the cable box signal gets passed to the TV as normal. Turn on the DVD player and the RF converter switches on; put your set on channel 3 or 4 and you'll see your video.

One final thing: The converter will need an AC outlet for its power adapter or power cord, so make sure you have a spare. If you don't already have your TV and DVD player connected to one, this would be a good time to pick up a surge-protector outlet strip. Then not only will you have enough outlets, you'll be protecting your equipment as well.

If this solution has given you what you need, please take a moment to rate it appropriately. And thanks for asking here!

No audio on rca hdtv

The audio in your set is probably mostly contained in a single larger IC, possibly attached to a heat sink. These often have 80% of the audio circuitry and are not immune to failure. To locate and test this area, one should have some electronic skills and at least a multimeter. If you feel you have done what is necessary to turn on the audio, you may need an expert.

Frozen picture on LG LCD 37"

Try One of your working TVS and connect it to your cable outlet of the TV that is having problems. If that TV Does not work then there may be a degraded fitting or the Leg coming of the splitter to that outlet could have a Low Signal Problem
Next Take the First TV that was not working properly and put it on the cable outlet of one of the TVs that is working properly and if the TV set works on that Channel then you know it is not your TV that it must be the cable

NO SOUND at all!

The audio is controlled by the small signal board, which is very costly and hard to get, however I will post a link where you can get one for about half price. Its called the ITC small signal board and its actually a sale item at this site. Heres the link.

LG 47" LCD TV - 47LC7DF Clicking Noise

I was told that these clicking noises (which happen on my Magnavox LCD too) were due to the "power required" at the internal switch. Seems that the power required to immediately turn on the TV is too much for a standalone household outlet, so it "surges" power in a series to get enough there. Hence, the clicking sounds are actually mini power surges to send more power to the internal circuits to turn the TV on.

If your set is like mine, these noises generally stop after a minute or two, correct?
