1-Check the telephone line connections.
2-Check that the telephone line is working by plugging it into a working
telephone and listening for a dial tone.
3-Replace the telephone cable that connects the terminal with a cable you know
is working correctly.

I have charges on my credit card that I did not authorize. I do not have a playstation account

I don't like to pay anything on line with credit card. If the wrong person just happens to get your account number you are in a mess. If the credit card company does not help you I would cancel my card.and ask for another one. I was scammed and lost some money and I cancelled my card and will not pay anything over the internet.

Where do i look to see why machine isn't calling out to verify card

first check the phone line it self. take all phone lines out of the credit card machine, and unplug the power to machine. now take a telephone with a phone line attached and plug that into wall as if you were making a call on that phone. check for dial tone. if you have a dial tone, make a call. do you require a 8 or 9 to dial out? you terminal may not recognize that.
also if you do have dial tone do you use digital or analog phone lines? you need analog for terminals. if you have a fax line you can connect the terminal to fax via phone line. if this does not work contact phone co and ask what type of lines you have, you can also connect most terminals via Ethernet.

I have not received a credit on my VISA for a coat returned in late October or early November...and would like to speak to a customer service rep... merchant order # 25483153 Borderfree Order #...

Have you tried calling the telephone number on the back of your credit card? The website may also have some telephone numbers to use as well.

On these types of disputes, I like to write a letter directly to the credit card company giving all of the information you listed above plus the steps you took to try contacting the company in order to resolve the matter. Usually suggesting that you might close your account is enough incentive for the credit card company to get moving on giving you the money owed.

Good luck.

We cannot dial out when sending a fax. You can hear the line open but no dialing tone. Any ideas?

  1. Make sure that you have plugged the phone cord directly and securely into the wall jack and into the back port of the fax product. The fax port on your product is marked "Line," "To Wall Jack," or with a wall jack symbol.
  2. Make sure the Line Interface Unit (box that the phone cord plugs into) is fully seated into the back of the fax product.
  3. Remove any other devices from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines.
  4. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line.
  5. Try using a different telephone cord.
  6. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems.
  7. Turn Error Correction Mode (ECM) off, if you encounter the same error repeatedly.

How can i use credit card mashine

Hi,
Following are the steps to use credit card machine

step1:Input the credit card numbers. If you have the credit card in hand, swipe it through the card reader. Most readers have a small icon or picture on them that shows which way the magnetic strip on the back of the card should be facing. If not, try running it
through the reader with the strip facing the machine first, since that is the most common direction. If you have a phone order, or do not have the credit card in hand, select the button marked "sale." On many machines this is also the "1" key, but it varies depending on the brand of the machine. Then follow the on-screen prompts to enter the card number and expiration date. Always double-check the numbers before pushing enter

step 2:
Input the sale information.Typically, the machine will first ask for the sales amount in dollars and cents. Input the amount using the number keypad. Double-check the amount to make sure it appears correctly on the screen and if it does, then push enter. If you accidentally input the wrong amount, look for the "clear" or "delete" key and start over. In some cases, the machine will prompt you for additional information after you've entered the sale amount. Follow the prompts to enter information, such as the customer's zip code or an order number.

step 3:
Wait for the sale to process. Depending on the machine's connection the sale may process within seconds or it may take a few minutes. If the machine seems to become "stuck" while processing a sale, do not re-enter the sale, but instead call the processing company's phone number for further instructions. In many cases this number will appear on a sticker on the machine.

step 4:
Process the receipt. If the customer is present, have them sign the credit card receipt. Give them the copy and retain the original for your records. If the customer is not present, write "phone-in" or another appropriate phrase on the signature line of the receipt. Keep one receipt for your records and include the other in the shipment of the goods to the customer.

step 5:
Close the batch.Double-check with your processing company, but most require you to run a "batch report" or close a batch of credit card receipts each day. This is the process that tells the company to finalize the credit card charges and deposit the balance to your account. Many machines will have a key that is marked "batch." You can press this key and then follow the prompts to close the batch at the end of the day. If the machine does not have a "batch" key, consult the user's manual for instructions or call your credit card processing company for instructions.

Thank you

HP Officejet 6310 will no longer receive a fax, but can send one

Have you checked the online support guides to make sure your fax is connected properly. There is a lot to work through, but you should be able to test your setup and see if you can send faxes but not receive them. See links here, here, and here. Treat the credit card machine as if it were a telephone answering device or another phone on the line.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

Error Log Result 232... The telephone connection was lost.

Error 232 Definition A communication failure occurred between the two machines. The user at the remote machine might have pressed the Stop key. The call waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line. Do not use call waiting on a line with a fax machine. The power at the remote machine was interrupted, or deliberately turned off causing the fax session to be interrupted. Check the following items: Make sure that you have plugged the phone cord directly and securely into the wall jack and into the back port of the fax product. The fax port on your product is marked "Line," "To Wall Jack," or with a wall jack symbol. Make sure the Line Interface Unit (box that the phone cord plugs into) is fully seated into the back of the fax product. Remove any other devices from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line. Try using a different telephone cord. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems. Turn Error Correction Mode (ECM) off, if you encounter the same error repeatedly Solutions If the error persists, and error correction is in use for the fax session, disable ECM. Fax quality might be degraded. Set the host machine to receive at a slower transmission speed. Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve. These errors can occur if the phone lines in the area to be faxed are old or there is noise (static on the phone line). Other reasons can include power brownouts and other power-related problems. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe

I need help still

Beth31046:
you are not dumb!! , I just have to understand your needs.
1st- u received modem, card, phone line filters and no software cd.
one: Every telephone line (hole in wall) that u have a telephone connected to, unplug telephone, connect a " telephone line " filter, then REconnect the telephone, etc to the filter.
2nd-cards?? Did u receive a 'card' that goes inside a "Desktop" computer or whats looks like a credit card that slides inside [usually the side]of a 'Laptop'? If the card is for the Desktop, then u have to open the back of computer,[POWER OFF!!] find an open slot (nothing connected to it) It should have a metal cover with a screw, that prevents things from entering, unscred, take metal tab\cover off, replace with" card" and screw down. The "card" should have what looks like a telephone connector opening (that usually connects a telephone line) excapt the opening for "telephone" line is wider, larger. That opening takes a male\plug that is a little thicker\larger then a regular "telephone" line. 3rd- on the modem, there will be two openings in the back. one for the regular telephone in from the wall [Make sure that there is a filter in the wall with the telephone line]. and a 2nd larger opening for the (thick but not too thick) wire coming out from the computer "card" to the modem
You have to call the people (Embarq, AT&T, etc) that sent you the STUFF, and they should set you up.
if this helps, please tell the FixYa people that I helped you.
