we have installed a 8-port serial interface on an Intel PC where we are using minicom 2.00 to have 8 Sun Solaris consoles on our RH 7.3 desktop. Everything is working fine except the case when our RH 7.3 system is powered/shut down: All connected Suns crashes i.e. falling back to the ok boot prompt. Here is our used minirc.ttyS* file:
pr port /dev/ttyS* pu baudrate 9600 pr bits 8 pr parity N pr stopbits 1 pr rtscts NO pr xonxoff YES

I guess the Sun experts generally hang out on a Sun newsgroup. On the Sun boxes, switch the kbd BREAK sequence to use the alternate break sequence (varies from Sun to Sun box... but nowadays the alternate sequence is <CR>-tilde-ControlB)
On the Sun boxes... # kbd -a alternate
Personally I use the Cyclades terminal consoles... because the also allow the portraying of serial connects across the network and they HANDLE the accidental BREAK problem when dealing with Sun boxen.
