Hi Thanks for all the responses i received..especially from Artgirl :-)

I was new then with the garmin but im pretty much clued up now.

all that was required was to view the address, then go to "edit" and one of the options listed is "delete".

That solved my problem and then i correctly put the new address for home.

i know that was simple..but if u dont ask, u dont learn :-)

    thanks again ppl

When you select an address, make sure you select the right state/town since many addresses are the same and the state/town is the only thing that makes a difference.
Your garmin has a menu, find the menu and you will be able to fo to "ERASE ROUTE" or "CLEAR ROUTE" press it. It can be worded differently, but find the option with the words erase or clear.
For inserting the right address I will give you an example:
100 Main street, Farmingdale N.Y. is your address
touch select route, it will ask you for one bit of information at the time.
select town: Farmindale NJ, Farmingdale NY it will give you a list of Farmingdale towns in US. Select Farmingdale NY. If you live in NY.
next, it will ask select street: Main st you write your street, make sure you don't choose Main rd this is Main road not Main ST
next select number: insert 100 since this would be your house number.

Remember it is very important to select the right town and the right street to get to the right address.
You can practice by inserting addresses that are near to your location and then erasing it.

How do you zero the 1300 when I set home it came up on wrong side

A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that won't start, freezes, or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

I just got my new Garmin 205. I set home to

Give this a try.

To Delete/Change your “Home” location, you can go to favorites, tap on home, tap edit, and then tap on "Delete" which will allow you to reset the location in the original dialog. Just tap the Home button again from the favorites menu, and the Nuvi will walk you through the dialog again.

  • Select "Favorites"
  • Find "Home" in the list
  • Press "Edit" -> "Remove" -> "Yes"
Your home position is now removed, and you can add a new one.

Go into your favorites menu and select "Home". The address data will come up. At the bottom you should see a button called "Edit" press that and you will then have the chance change to edit it or delete it the home information.

GARMIN NUVI 200 SAYS NO DETAILED MAPS FOUND THAT SUPPORT ROUTING

You can download new maps..........free......................but..........

I had this problem last year with my garmin 200 and when I called they said that I was out of the 60 day time window for a free map upgrade but they would give it to me anyway. They gave me detailed instructions on how to download a new map free of charge but they didnt explain which selection replaced what I already had on mine.
As a result, I downloaded the wrong maps and have much less detail. Even though its the "2009" version, its less acurate than my old maps were. But its worth a shot, better than paying for them.

The pin should not be necessary if you are operating your garmin in your 'secure location' that you established when you enabled the garmin lock feature.
