Hey Jason2312,

Depending on the number of connections available on the back of your TV, you may have a number of options that you can use to connect both consoles.

Both the PS2 and PS3 have the ability to connect to TV's and other devices (like VCR's) using composite, component and S-video cables. The PS3 also has the added perk of being able to use HDMI connections, which weren't necessarily available when the PS2 was initially released. If your TV has any combination of two of these connection types available, you should be able to directly connect both consoles to your TV at the same time.

The only thing you'd want to keep in mind is that you may need to change the signal input on your TV, depending on what console you want to use. Many TV's are only able to support one device on their standard input station (usually channel 3 or 4), and can only support additional devices through antenna or satellite input stations - you'll want to see the owner's manual for confirmation of your TV's capabilities and limitations.

In the event that you do not have multiple connections available, you can generally purchase a system selector that can be used to connect several devices to the same ports on the back of a TV. These can usually be obtained from a local retailer for anywhere between $20.00 and $40.00, though more expensive models may exist. Two of the more common names you may wish to look out for are MadCatz and Pelican Accessories - both are specialty companies that tend to cater towards the gaming audience.

Additionally, some home theater systems and receivers may also have similar functionality, but please keep in mind that you'd probably be looking at a much larger monetary investment if you purchase an entire home theater system instead of a stand-alone system selector.

Hope this helps you out.

Ps3 and TV resolution issue

If you are hooking up the console with the standard R/W/Y connection, you will only be able to get 480 resolution. You need to get the R/G/B-R/W Component cables from Sony to access HD.

And you're right HDMI + PS3 didn't work well for me either. The component cables will suit you just fine. I'm happy with them.

There's your link sir.

Hooking up playstation 3 to tv

you need a ps3 scart lead. i think the one of the ps2 is the same but check. it should just hook up like a ps2. if you are having any problems with the picture hold down the power button when you start up the ps3 for 10 seconds this runs the optimal screen settings for the cable you are using. but if it is the first time you are using the ps3 it will auto start in set up mode. hope this helps
