Same here. my DVD cannot be read from Camcorder or DVD-rom

  • Anonymous Jul 09, 2008

For no apparent reason, the "unsupported format" appeared on the screen and I cannot finalize or access any of the information recorded on the disk.  I replaced the disk and the camera works fine.  I guess it is a bad disk...?

UGH I spent way too much time with Sony support and had no success my camera is doing the EXACT same thing and I have lost 2 very important recordings, one an interview with my grandmother. I am very frustrated that this seems to be a common problem and that means an obvious pre-existing issue with this camera and sony will charge me $210 to fix it. I might as well buy another camera. I am goiong to call a third time and report that I have found this site with all of you having the same issue. I am also going to report them to http://www.onlinebusinessbureau.com

I encourage all of you to do the same! Sony should be held accountable to the consumer. This is not a cheap camera and they should repair issues that are related to faulty manufacturing.

    Same problem here.

I get: Disc cover accidentally open. Turn on the Power again.

Then after doing that I can not acces to the Disc again and it seems to be lost. I can Finalize the disc.

    Please help

When you open the door you will see 2 metal tabs that are sensors to that are pushed by 2 plastic tabs on the door that push on the metal tabs to let the camera know the door is shut. For whatever reason these tabs are not pushed up enough and I triggered them by sticking something in there to make contact. I used the end of a toothpick for now. May be primative but it works for now and I may look for a method to make it permanant but at least my camera works now

I took the disc out and sprayed it with air - the canned air you spray the computer with to clear the dust. Put the disc back in and it seems to be working great!

If the lense thing doesn't work then this one will!!!

I dropped mine so the lense wasn't the problem, the door has some play in it.

Haha, yes finally what a pOS!, But I got it!!

So I got to thinking well the sensor or something be messed up a bit.

So hell , I put a C clamp on it. I started to record. Sweet, it worked!!! The cover was stuck so the sensor wasn't tripping.

Well that worked, but I didn;t want a c clamp on my camera all the time, so I had some Automotive Amazing Goop,

I lined the cover edges with the sealent and let it dry. Now when I close it , it stays closed and records without a problem.

I glued a bracket to the outside of the cover to make it easier to open.

But it was unusable before, and at least I can use it.

Good luck.

Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc

The only thing is its tuff to open, I use a skrew driver, or small nail.

But it was unusable before, and at least I can use it.

Lens cover not open and blank screen

the problem of your camera is the ccd image sensor...better go to the sony service center for replacing the image sensor..i know it is free for replacing that sensor cause that is one of the model that sony recall produc and the cover not open error message is a poor contact of the lens cover switch...

Error message + disc opened acidentally + recording disabled

1. cleaning the laser lens with isopropilic alcohol and q-tip
2. Try the reset button on the bottom of the camera. Tilt your camera and look below the LCD Display Backlight button on the bottom edge of the curved portion of the camera. You will need a paperclip or tip of a ball point pen to push the recessed little button. Place the camera on a level surface and try again. We find that the camera is very sensitive to tilting, as it gets older.
3. Make sure you format format at was FAT not fat32
4. All you need to do is "Quick format" the disk with the CAMERA rather than the memry stick plugged into the computer drive.
5. For sony error c:1301 using mini cd's: there is a program that recovers data from cd's that works with disk that have this error. It called "cdroller" Homepage is : www.cdroller.com
6. just take the memory stick off and re-insert it lot of times.. just keep doing it.
