From what I can understand, if the camera is sill able take pictures but is not displaying any thing on the LCD, then it is a problem with the LCD or LCD cable connecting to rest of the camera or LCD driver on main board.

It can be as simple as a loose flexible PCB connection to the camera main board.

If that is not the case and your camera has no viewfinder anywhere on it and only allows you to use the LCD screen to take photos, it could again be one of two things. Either the lens covering is not opening up properly, or you have a much more serious problem: there is a connection problem somewhere inside your camera between the CCD sensor and your LCD screen.

If it's that first issue I mentioned, it is easily rectified. If it is one of those bottom two issues, you will have to take your camera in for repair to see if anything can be done to get it fixed.

I would suggest agains opening these yourself, well basicly if you think your up to it you can order a replacement screen somewhere and replace the screen yourself but I would recommend sending it to service.

for example
http://www.advancecamera.com/repair/

or panasonic service

Problem with canon a420 digicam

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Note that your camera will not be able to take 15 second exposures, as per the above "fix". Instead, place the camera in manual mode, turn off the flash, and take the exposures in a darkened room. This should give you a couple seconds, just enough time to open the battery door while the red and yellow lights are flashing.

hi

i think the LCD has been set to a very high brightness set the LCD brihtnes lower from the settings..

better more is to reset the camera to the default settings this would set the aperture, shutter, Exposure, LCD brightness and other settings to defaults and this would save from any unwanted changes than required

My Sony can take pictures, but the LCD screen is frozen with a white picture and a black oval-looking thing in the middle. Any solutions?

You have a faulty LCD screen. The white is the back light and the black oval is the defective screen. This can be repaired.

My lcd screen is black

hi there guys, if the screen is black and the camera takes black pictures, then you should look if you are getting a on screen display on camera mode. if you are then i would say one of two things, either the shutter is not opening or the ccd( electronic imaging device) is not functioning. to check the shutter you should look into the lenses centre part and check for movement from the shutter to see if it is opening.

Kodak CX7330. turns on but LCD screen is black and won't take a pic

It sounds like a bad connection on the ribbon cable of the LCD screen to the camera's motherboard. The fact that when you physically move the camera around and you can get the screen to then work, tells me something is loose inside.

Good luck!

Fuji f700

I recently had trouble with the LCD Display coming up with a black screen. So I mailed it to Fuji with a letter explaining the problem. About 3 weeks later I got it back in the mail and it seem to be working fine until a month later. I turned it on and the LCD display show a black screen only now it has white lines. I'm so incredible mad and extremely dissapointed in Fuji. Reading online I have notice many people having trouble with Fuji Products. I WILL NEVER BUY a Fuji again!!!
