No, that's not what it means.
If printer heads are not aligned, CMYK colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and blacK - the usual colours in a printer) will not print in the correct place.
Assume a dark grey dot is to be printed. For this C, M and Y colored dots have to be placed exactly on the same spot. But if heads are not aligned, the three color dots will not be exactly in the same place. Therefore you will see Cyan, magenta and Yellow dots adjacent to each other instead of one dark grey dot.
It is always a good idea to align the print heads every time a new cartridge is installed.
check your print cartridge and your fusing element. you will need to dead cycle the printer to check the cartridge (print a document, when it is half way through turn off the printer, check the toner cartridge for your dots.) are you able to see your fusing element by opening the rear door? check the edges for dots on the fusing element. also there is a transfer roller or belt in your printer, that may also be dirty.
If you are getting single color dots but all 4 colors the issue has to be somewhere comon to all 4 which usually is the Transfer Belt. i would look for some sort of damage to the belt or something sticky on it.
There are several causes of those.
So go to Xerox.com
Click "support and drives"
then in the product name box, Type DC12
Then any line click support
IN the search box type "spots" and read the relevant solution.
As it's printing two little strips (like a 1/4inch) of CMYK dots (one of each color all you need to check the toner cartridge drum, try to wipe the toner drum with a damp cloth on each color cartridge. Secondly check the fuser assembly drum if it has any mark on the drum, try to use a mild isopropyle alchohol to wipe the dirt mark them try printing. this will resolve the issue. if still issue persists then change the color cartridge one by one. This will definitely resolve the issue.
