Question about RCA Pearl TH1102 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Pearl freeze? I downloaded my music (from pc) to player (RCA Pearl) and then removed player when told from USB and it began to load...says: "Please Wait..." and a "fuzzy " ball goes around the Pearl logo about 10 revolutions, then just stops. I waited up to an hour with nothing happening. I even tried to unload while connected to good. Only way to turn off player is to disconnect battery. Did I do something wrong??

This is because u did not remove the player safely from the pc.. hence such problem.. do a format and a virus scan and continue..

How to Fix Your RCA Pearl TH1602 MP3 Player from Freezing at Startup

Does your RCA Pearl TH1062 MP3 player freeze on startup at the Pearl logo?

Whenever your player acts up, the best solution is to reflash/upgrade the firmware.

Download the firmware upgrade from, and follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

  1. start the program,
  2. remove the battery,
  3. hold the play button while plugging the RCA player into your computer's usb port,
  4. release the play button when the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
  5. check the box that says "format data" (you can try it first without this checked, it may work and will save your music),
  6. click the start button to replace the firmware.

This solution will fix your player.
I hope that helps.

RCA pearl 1602-A won't register when plugged into USB port.

When my computer wouldn't recognize my Pearl, these are the steps I followed after downloading the firmware upgrade from

    remove the battery,
    start the program,
hold the play button while plugging into usb,
release the play button when the term "initializing" replaces "searching",
click the start button to replace the firmware.

You might want to try leaving the "format data" box unchecked the first time. If that doesn't work and allow you to backup your music, bite the bullet and format the data area.

After I did this, my pearl started normally, and my computer recognized it again. It also fixed my aac-error problem.

Wont load past the "please wait" screen

Check to see if the player needs a firmware update or if there is a reset on it. Also try different USB ports on your PC to see if when you plug it in it recognizes the player and maybe needs firmware. If you have more trouble try the RCA website or call customer service. Good luck.

    RCA Pearl TH1602 Frozen?

I had the same problem, usually plugging it into the usb port on the pc and verifying the files on the player, then disconnecting the player will solve the problem. Other times i have to reformat the player, if you do that, you will have to put all your music back on. It's a pain, this has happened to me 4 times, I've only had this thing less than 6 months! It was inexpensive, I guess you get what you pay for, but I like having a AAA battery instead of having to remember to plug it in to the pc to recharge every 15 hrs.
