If you are getting single color dots but all 4 colors the issue has to be somewhere comon to all 4 which usually is the Transfer Belt. i would look for some sort of damage to the belt or something sticky on it.

Whats the difference between the drum and the cartridge? What is the DRUM K? Is it the black toner?

If it's a colour/color printer, you will have 4 toners and 4 drums to put the toner onto the paper, CMYK is the order of things in colour printing and you are right about the K being the black.

Get a replacement drum should be easy enough, the photoreceptor may be simply dirty if it's not had a service for a while, if you know where they are, give them a wipe with a cloth or cleaning pad with Isoproyl Alcohol rather than Lemon Pledge or water...

Hi Richard,
Dots, Lines and smudges on the printouts are usually due to deteriorating cartridges and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and inspect them. You may observe the lines on the green drum. Gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines. (corresponding to the location where you are having a green line on the paper)
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer are clean and there is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots.
Moreover, streaks (thicker lines) and dots etc indicate faulty PCR Roller which is located behind the green drum inside the cartridge. Observing the PCR with the help of a sharp torch light would let you assess the condition of the PCRs at the corresponding location where lines are appearing. Replace the Cartridges one by one and inspect the prints for the changes. I think you would be able to identify the faulty cartridge/ rollers. Also, if the waste toner area is filled and/or the plastic wiper/ cleaning blade removes the leftover toner/ waste from the drum and holds the waste is worn out, it results in spilled toner usually at edges and at early stages lines only.
Moreover, the function of the fuser is to fuse the toner onto the paper and it is usually done at the end of the printing process just before the paper is ejected (and the image/ toner on the paper is just fused - not changed). The fault at the fuser area usually results in smudges, ghosted image or unbind toner (which easily gets erased when touched). The time during the printing cycle when the toner is spread on the paper, additional toner (resulting in lines) is shifted to the paper due to cartridge related issues, which results in lines. Note that after cleaning the rollers, the print quality improves and the lines disappear or lighten. Try and check if the above suggestions work.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Quilt y of print !, it gives double printing on page one is print of original doc.& second as its image what should i do to improve its print quilt y. i will be thank full to you

Hi,
Dots, Lines, shadows and smudges on the printouts are due to dirty/ deteriorating cartridge and cleaning the green drum of the cartridge may help temporarily. Take out the cartridge and gently clean the roller/ green drum with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth wiping off the toner dots marks/ lines.
Also, make sure that the visible inside of the printer is clean and ther is no spilled toner inside, which sometimes results in dots. Double printing is also due to the deteriorating cartridge. The drum is not getting clean after its each rotation and hence the remaining toner/ image is transferred to the paper resulting in double printing. So, it is recommended that clean the drum etc (this would help temporarily). Also, make sure that the toner cartridge is in good working condition. If not you may replace the cartridge.
Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

While printing a document some ink dots are coming in every page of document

Did you replace the toner? dirty print out might be the sign of low toner or faulty drum unit.
But if the dots are repeating on same line..then most probably it's the drum or fuser problem.

Brother HL 2070N Drum Unit changed but printing with dots on the left hand side

If toner leaked into the machine and got on the fuser that could cause this, but the dots would go away after a few prints. Try another drum unit.

3100 Dell Printer - Printing CMYK DOTS TWICE ON EVERY PRINT

We had a Dell Engineer come out for this prob and it basically involved replacing every working part inside it until it worked! :-(

He said he believed that it might have been toner leaking out, but I don't believe that because of the precision of the dots on every printout.

I hope urs is in warranty!

Fuser drum ?

the fuser is a rubber covered roller (located nearest the exit tray of the printer) that must get hot to work. as the paper is approaching the roller, the carbon toner is merely resting on the paper. when it reaches the roller, the heated roller presses and "fuses" the toner into the paper. now, i am not quite sure what is the real problem...does the fuser get hot? test it by turning on and waiting for the "OK" signal to begin print. then shut it off and quickly open the printer and touch the fuser (be careful!). if it gets hot, your problem is somewhere else, unless the rubber roller or the roller temperature sensor needs heavy cleaning, of course. the sensor is located under the roller cover and is touching the rubber and is identified by having two wires leading to it. sometimes this sensor is electrically ok, but carbon buildup acts as a thermal insulator and does not allow the sensor to feel the higher temperature. the printer will never reach the "OK" status if fuser not reaching the correct temperature, so you can quickly test if it is heating during the warmup period. let me know of any updates.

Printing CMYK dots twice on every print

Hi, As it's printing two little strips (like a 1/4inch) of CMYK dots (one of each color all you need to check the toner cartridge drum, try to wipe the toner drum with a damp cloth on each color cartridge. Secondly check the fuser assembly drum if it has any mark on the drum, try to use a mild isopropyle alchohol to wipe the dirt mark them try printing. this will resolve the issue. if still issue persists then change the color cartridge one by one. This will definitely resolve the issue.
