If your computer is randomly keeps on shutting down this is a thermal issue which you need to address. check airvents, use compressed air to clean all possible obstructions between heatsink fan and processor. try avoiding blocking the airvent of your notebook. try also updating your bios

Xp booting loop bios

Seems to be a bad driver or damaged boot.
If the computer shuts down and restarts check CPU fan and blow dust out from heat sink, CPU may be overheating.
Otherwise, use the recovery disk to repair, or the installation CD and do the system repair. Or from repair disk, if your computer worked fine before, Restore To a Previous setting.

It will tearn on and show evary thang right but i turns off after like 5seconds plz help me!

Seems like overheating CPU protection, shutting down computer. Check if any fans are clogged with dust and clean them while powered off from mains (remove plug).

Shutting down, happens about once a week Removed

Seems like its overheating. Check if fan is working properly. Plus give the fan assembly including the one in the SMPS a thorough cleaning with the help of a vacuum cleaner.

Computer is a Lenovo TC M52 P4 / 3.2 - I have added a sound card, a PCI express Geforce graphics card and a NIC card. The problem seems to be overheating as it only shuts down like this during the summer...

The case fan should start running as soon as you turn on the computer. I would replace the fan with a higher capacity (CFM). If you have a case that can take 2 case fans, I would install the send fan. Also with the case off, check that the CPU cooler fan is functioning. With the quick shut off, I would suspect that the CPU cooler fan is not functioning. I could be impeded by dust. Vacuum and blow out any dust on the motherboard, fans and battery fan while you have the case off.
This should aleviate the shutoff problem due to overheating.
Let me know if this solves the problem.
Please rate this solutution. Thanks.

Emachines ET1810 desktop computer randomly powers down for seemingly no reason. Doesn't crash or freeze, just turns off, as if the plug was pulled. Started about 5-6 months after buying.

It could be overheating, and automatically shutting itself down, to avoid any damage.

Did you get the standard 12 month warranty when you purchased the computer? Did you purchase "extended" warranty? If so, contact Emachines, and get them to trouble-shoot and fix it.

Dell Dimension C521 power shuts off spontaneously seems the fan on the power supply isn't working.

Hello,

If the fan on your power supply is not turning then you need to replace the power supply as soon as possible. The machine is overheating and then shutting off. If the power supply is not replaced it can cause additional problems with the motherboard, cpu, and hard drive. Open your case and look on the power supply for your replacement parts number, check Ebay.com for a replacement. They are easy to replace, just a few screws and power plugs.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Definitely your SMPS is faulty. Change it to one with a rating of 450-500 Watts and that should solve this problem....sodeep

My hp pc seems to try to start on but then it shuts down immedia.

Hi there.
If its the CPU (processor fan) thats not working, it could well be the machine overheating and shutting down to prevent further damage to the machine, try another fan, if it spins up the CPU fan has gone and will need to be replaced.
If you have a working fan but it doesn't work on the motherboard, check the power supply unit as that could be faulty.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
