Question about HP DeskJet 940c InkJet Printer

1 Answer

HP940C cradle I recently moved and plugged in my HP 940C printer. However the cradle will not move to the left when the top lid is lifted open. There is a strange slipping noise as if it wants to move but is jammed. If i lift the cradle while pushing the middle button it will move over to the left and return to the right, but the middle light and power light will still flash. Any solutions?

Printer has middle orange and right green light flashing. When I open the front cover and push the middle black button with the paper icon on it, catridge moves slightly out of it's home position--not enough for me to remove either catridge, then moves back to the far right out of reach. Grinding sound like it's trying to do something when cartridge is hidden out of sight.

Hello cmcclung147
You certainly didn' t mess up , I can assure you .
Generally , with power of and gently lifting the carriage and manually moving it from left to right and/or vice versa , plugging power back on , solves the problem . I succeeded that way with my 930C . Should work with your device .
Good luck !
Best regards ,

Hp 812c cartridge cradle is stuck on the right, not moving to the

unplug the printer and try to move carriage by hand, if it does not move, the carriage mechanism is broken, if it does move, plug the unit back in, if same error occurrs, it is an issue with the printer carriage mech.

The power light and the paper light are blinking continuously.

turn off the printer open the lid move the cradle back and forth then move it to the middle, close the lid turn it on let it warm up and open the lid the cradle should move to the center, it sound like the home position senser might be going out or it is just ouot of wack.

The cradle is stuck

Fixed it myself...found this link:

It would print the Tap Test as instructed in this illustration....but then wouldn't move to print anything else. So redid the Tap Test several times....then I lifted the lid while printing a test page so the cartridge was in the center and I could get ahold of it to slide it....left the printer ON, but unplugged the power cable...and then I was able to move the cartridge back and forth. I then took QTips with Windex on them and cleaned the silver bar the cartridge moves on. Got a lot of ink off of it.
A couple more test prints...and sliding the cartridge......and it is finally running again.

Print cartridge cradle is stuck ican't find where it is jammed

This might help . . . Mine finished printing one doc & then made a terrible noise & sent a message to my screen that "print cartridge cradle is stuck." When i opened door, i could see it was stuck off to the left side so left cartridge was obscured. I could not get it to budge, although i kept turning it off, gently pushing & turning it back on. Finally, i got my hand inside & determined that the little door to the left-side cartridge had popped open & was causing it to remain stuck. After some struggles (turn off printer first!) i was able to maneuver it around & close it tight. Now, all is well . . .

Cartridge cradle stuck

Hey chips 53 Very simple, Go to the market and purchase a set of screw driver of long sleek neck (for star screw). and open the four screw present four different side in the printer. After open the screw, open that door, from where you insert the cartridge. insert your hand into the printer and lift the portion upside. Remember you have to lift equally (but slowly-slowly) if you see that the upper body is separating, you have to concentrate to lift the portion from right side because wires has been attached left side. After removing the upper portion you can easily move the carriage. And do what you want
