Low refrigerant may be indicated by outside tubing at room temp (or at least most of tubing) when compressor running. can be confirmed by pressure checks on system. Refrigerant can only be checked or recharged by qualified (card carrying) appliance tech or refrigeration tech. be sure to clean condensor (outside) tubing and make sure fan next to compressor is running if there is one.

Refrigerator and freezer doesn't keep food as cold anymore. Food is spoiled and temperature is at it's highest. Whirlpool w8txngfwt

Get a repair man to check out the freon pressure in your unit. If the freon is low there will be no cooling power. Ours had a little leak in a hose and cost $95.00 to repair. If it's an older fridge it might be better to purchase a newer one. Unless you have the testers and know what you are doing to check this unit you need a repair man.

My KTM3900WB fridge/freezer is not freezing and cooling in the fridge. The light goes and can hear the motor is running.

You are either low on freon refrigerant, or your compressor is frozen (usually due to low freon) or your compressor is bad. the motor will cycle on and off even though the compressor is not working. the refrigerator away from the wall and look compressor will be a nerf football sizedand usually black cylinder. It could be very hot or cold/frozen. can also unplug the refrigerator leave it for a few hours and plug it back in if it work you are low on freon. You need a repairman

Kenmore dehumidifier 25358400890 sometimes works, but sometimes won't run. Light comes on when bucket is removed, so it's getting power. Any clue why?

Assuming you've turned the humistat all the way to the maximum dry setting, it's possible it's not humid enough for it to run but fairly unlikely. The humistat may need to be cleaned or replaced or the compressor may be low on freon. If it works in hotter temperatures this may indicate low freon. Freon pressure increases with temperature therefore if it's hot, the pressure inside may increase enough to satisfy the low pressure switch.

My Whirlpool ET8WTKXKT0 doesn't cooling down. The fan is working, but the compressor like dead. What I have to check? Thanks. Victor

Its the problem with compressor,The problem is weak compressor. The refrigerant ( R12) in the compressor is got low.The compressor is weak. The compressor needs to be replaced.-------------- The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located.------------ But as you mentioned that freezer not cooling this indicates problem with compressor. When compressor cools the freezer section then fridge section gets cold.If freezer section is not getting properly cold then fridge section will not cool properly/.So the problem relates to compressor.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Im having a problem with the fridge not cooling. the ice box works just fine and i have the controls on max but its not cooling down

See if the compressor is running. its under the fridge and will be humming. If its running you fridge and the fan under the fridge is running also then your fridge is low on freon. If the fan is now running replace it. If the compressor is not running it could be the starter which is inside the plastic cap on the compressor. It is a nickel size part connected to one of the 3 prongs on the compressor. It also could be the timer. The timer is a device that turns to fridge defrost. It is located behind the plastic in the top, back of the ref side of the fridge or behind the back in the freezer or under the front bottom underneath the fridge. it will have a slot near its center that a flat blade screwdriver can fit in turn it slowly and you will hear audible clicks the compressor should kick on if not its not the timer. good luck

Not cooling, fan making noise and now humming

Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Panel is hot and freezer does not work!

Check the condenser fan underneath the unit accessable form the back behind the cardboard cover. It should be running when the compressor runs. OR Check the evaporator behind the rear cover inside the freezer. Check for ice build up. . Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control

The freezer fan works, the compressor hums but the fridge does not get cold, nor does the freezer. Even with the settings on max.

Fridge freezing

Low freon charge will cause the compressor to run continuously, as it never reaches the set temperature. This will also cause excessive ice buildup as well. I am assuming this little fridge doesn't have an automatic defrost. If it does look at that next. You didn't say, but does it reach proper temperature? Go to the back where the compressor is. Feel the lines coming out of the compressor. the low pressure, or larger one, it may have insulation around it, should be cold. If you cant tell (sometimes these small compressors they look the same size) its the line leading inside the freezer. Feel about 1 foot away from the compressor, if possible. Next feel the high or small pipe, this one is going to the outside coil. This should be very warm, but not cool and not real hot. This goes for the compressor too. A 134A system sometimes is very hot when low on freon.
