I actually had this problem before and for some reason by default my computer decided to mute the microphone. Just click on the little speaker icon in the lower left corner and just check that. From there it's just trial and error. Check sound drivers, check to see if another mic works in it.

A simple mistake that I have made in the past is that the mic is turned off. Is there a switch on the mic, and if so, make sure it's on. :)

After that, check in your mixer (Usually a speaker icon in your system tray) and make sure the mic isn't muted, and the volume is up. Also, if you have a mic boost, enable it. Try screaming at the mic, sometimes it's working, but really quiet.

I just bought the GXL2200 CAD microphone without the cabels,(thought they would've came with), what kind of cable do i need?

As with most microphones, these mics use XLR cables. You can get them online or in a music store in many different lengths. What you need is XLR male to XLR female, though most of the consumer-level stores will probably just call them "mic cables." Note that the thing you're plugging into will need to have an XLR input, and will need to provide phantom power in order for that mic to work.

I bought this mic and I have a few questions: 1.

If the mic has a usb cord, plug it in any unused usb port. If it has a 3.5 mm plug look on the computer for a pink colored connector or one that has a mic symbol next to it. Should work on a Mac too.

Lavalier pdwm96 microphone

Well, 1st thing is you've bought one of the worst wireless mic's on the planet BUT if you insist on "hooking it up" here goes....

1. Mic connected and transmitter (with new battery) turned on.
2. With volume down, plug receiver directly into amplifier/PA 1/4" input.
3. Talk into mic and slowly raise volume of amplification system.
4. READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL!!!

Microphone input on Dell Inspiron B130 doesn't work

Your jack may have been damaged, or the apple mic may not be compatible. Purchase another pc compatible mic to check. Or you could try a multimedia headset with mic that plugs into your usb port. Take a look at RadioShack for headsets, I saw one in a store near me. and they should have them online.

Pls help

The MXL 990s requires 48 volts to operate. If your mixer does not have a phantom power option, you will need to purchase a microphone pre-amplifier with phantom power to interface the microphone to your mixer.

Problem with CVL-1064

Sounds like the port/ soundcard has issues.
My advice to anybody using mics wich plug into soundcards is get an interface mic pre and a real mic. Interfaces can be had for cheap these days as long as mic pre quality doesn't matter to you, and you can get a shure sm-57 mic for $80 wich will last a lifetime.
