Stopping or Interrupting a Self-Cleaning cycle:
If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a Self-Cleaning cycle
due to excessive smoke or fire in the oven:
    1. Press Clear/off.
    2. Once the oven has cooled down for approximately 1 HOUR and
the "DOOR LOCKED" icon is no longer displayed, the oven door
can then be opened (Fig. 7).
    Fig.7
When the Self-Clean cycle is done:
    1. The time of day,"DOOR LOCKED" and "CLEAN" icon will remain
    in the display.
    2. Once the oven has cooled down for approximately 1 HOUR, and
the "DOOR LOCKED" icon is no longer displayed, the oven
    door can then be opened.
IMPORTANT NOTES when using the Self-Clean feature:
    1. The Self-Clean feature will not operate whenever a radiant surface remains ON.
    2. A Self-Clean cycle cannot be started if Oven Lockout feature is active.
    3. If a Self-Cleaning-Cycle has started but not finished and a power failure occurs, the appliance may not have thoroughly
cleaned. Once power is restored, the Cooktop will remain locked. To unlock the cooktop press and hold the pad for 3
seconds. The red cooktop lock icon will disappear from the display. Then set for another Self-Clean cycle to finish.
    4. If your clock is set for normal 12 hour display mode the Delay Self-Clean cycle can never be set to start more than 12
hours in advance. To set for a delayed Self-Cleaning cycle 12-24 hours in advance see page 15 for instructions to set the
control for the 24 hour time of day display mode.

    Self-Cleaning Oven
A Self-Cleaning oven cleans itself with high temperatures (well above cooking
temperatures) which eliminate soils completely or reduces them to a fine
powdered ash you can wipe away with a damp cloth.
Adhere to the following cleaning precautions:
    • DO NOT use oven cleaners or oven protective coatings in or around any
    part of the Self-Cleaning oven.
    • DO NOT clean the oven door gasket. The woven material of the oven door
gasket is essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub,
    damage or remove the gasket.
    • DO NOT use any cleaning materials on the oven door gasket. Doing so
    could cause damage.
    • Remove the broiler pan and insert, all utensils and any aluminum
foil. These items cannot withstand high cleaning temperatures.
    • Oven racks do not have to be removed. If they are not removed during the
Self-Clean cycle their color will turn slightly blue and the finish will be dull.
After the cycle is complete and the oven has cooled, rub the sides of the
oven racks with wax paper or a cloth containing a small amount of salad oil
(this will make the racks glide easier into the rack position).
    • Remove any excessive spillovers in the oven cavity before starting the
Self-Cleaning cycle. To clean, use hot, soapy water and a cloth. Large
spillovers can cause heavy smoke or fire when subjected to high
temperatures. DO NOT allow food spills with a high sugar or acid content
(such as milk, tomatoes, sauerkraut, fruit juices or pie filling) to remain on
the surface as they may leave a dull spot even after cleaning.
    • Clean any soil from the oven frame, the door liner outside the oven door
gasket and the small area at the front center of the oven bottom. These
areas heat sufficiently to burn soil on. Clean with soap and water.

Directions on how to use the self-cleaning feature of my Kenmore Ultra Bake Self Cleaning Super Capacity oven

First take out the racks (unless they are coated with the same porcelan coating as the oven interior). Press the Clean or Self-Clean button. Press up or down arrow key - 3:30 will show in display which represent time in hours and minutes. You can press the up arrow key for more time, or the down arrow key for less time, but usually the default time is good. Then just press Start. The door will lock and the oven will turn on. In 3 1/2 hours the oven will turn off, but the door won't unlock for another hour.

I lost the operator's manual for my Maytag electric range, model No. MERH752BAW. I need to know the procedures to use the self-cleaning oven feature.

I would not advise using the self clean feature. The extreme temps harm the electronic controls. Losing the manual might be a blessing.

How to use self cleaning

It would be wise to not use the self clean mode. Many horror storys of controls costing hundreds of dollars to replace come to mind. The delicate electronics cannot stand the 900 degree 3 hour endurance of this. Why not get some green flavored easy off oven cleaner instead and save a lot of money. They have a new and improved easy off citrus based product that is deemed green and mean.

It depends on how dirty it is. But usually 3-4 hours should do. After its done just wipe the leftover burnt pieces out.

Self cleaning MAytag Gemini GAS oven

A wonderful feature is that the ovens self-clean with the press of a few buttons. Only one oven can be programmed to self-clean at a time. Remove the oven racks. Turn off the oven light and close the door. Press the "Clean" button and then press "Auto Set" to automatically clean the oven for 3 hours. Press the "Auto Set" pad again to set the oven for a 4-hour clean cycle, or press the button one more time for a 2-hour cleaning. The oven locks when in cleaning mode. When the oven is finished cleaning, the word "Cleaned" will be displayed on the control panel, and the oven will remain locked until the oven has cooled, which takes about an hour. To cancel the self-clean cycle, just press the "Cancel" button. Simple!

Self Cleaning Feature

First... yes you should remove the racks before using self cleaning. Broil pan too if it is in there. Second... the doors will lock by themselves, you don't need to do anything there. typically it takes about 3 and 1/2 hours to go through the cleaning cycle and yes you can use the cooktop while it's cleaning.
