I came across your post about the trouble you were having with your Polaroid TV and was wondering how you fixed it. I have a Polaroid FLM4234BH with the same type of picture you were describing.

Black screen

There is a post by Stivo on this board that has helped many fix this type of problem. There are two capacitors on the power supply board that go bad and if replaced can fix this problem . The parts can be purchased at your local Radio Shack for about five dollars or less. I just did it today and it worked!!!

When I push power, the blue power light comes on but the screen never does. I had success yesterday by unplugging the main power, plugging it back in and then it would turn on. That trick is not working...

tim578, Unit's main power supply needs inspection and repair. Check for videos that deal with DIY repair of your FLM-3734b on youtube. May need to replace BAD (failed) electrolytic filter capacitors, and other components on unit's multiple dc voltage output "switch-mode-power-supply" board. You're going to need a lot of luck getting this one fixed!! You will need to do a lot of surfing to understand the polaroid problem!!

Fix Only Worked i week

Hello caroltiki,

If I may ask what was the fix suggested to you? What may have happened, is something that often happens. Remember when something malfunctions, it usually does so for a reason, until that reason is exposed any repairs will be temporary. I usually tell people to have their sets checked out be a qualified TV technician which to me is the best advice. However if the person wants to do it themselves I usually offer troubleshooting help, not "shotgunning" help. Shotgunning is what caused you to seek a repair without the benefit of troubleshooting, so if you want me to help you do this yourself, I do require that you have some understanding of electronics, because I am going to have you take measurements and readings if you have the equipment to do so.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

These Polaroid LCD sets all fail like this. Bad power supplies. Call the warranty number and demand to have the main module replaced even if it is out of warranty.

Polaroid flm 3201 wont turn on

If you have no power light at all on the front of your tv. Check the fuse by the power coard.

If you have a red light only and have the dark power board with black heat sinks. check the fuse in the center of the power board.

if the light turns blue when you hit the power button but no picture and have the dark power board replace the 2- 1000 mfd 10 volts caps with 2- 1000 mfd 16 volt caps at 105 deg.

need more help let me know
