I have one too. Had the same problem and needed a new clean Kcup. The oil residue build up wasn't allowing the coffee to pass through. Some models also have internal filters. Bed Bath Beyond has all the replacement parts and lists the units by Model on the part. Hope this helps.
What model do you have? I'm guessing we are talking coffee maker, is it a Keurig? If you're getting a message saying to "de-scale" it need a good cleaning. That's usually the issue & the quickest fix. If the Keurig (or any other coffee maker) gets lime/calcium build up on the internal components it will ignore whatever has been programmed into it & just keep cutting off or keep making partial cups. Run some white vinegar thru it - fill the reservoir with a strong vinegar/water mix, remove any kcups/my kcup or filters, also remove the reservoir carbon filter ( fyi - that's not going to eliminate any lime/calcium in your water - it's just to eliminate any bad tastes/odors) and "make" how ever many cups it takes to empty the reservoir. Dependingon the build up - you may need to do this 2 or 3 times. Also run about 2 more reservoirs of just clear water to help rinse out the vinegar mix (otherwise your next cup of coffee will not be what you expected). This should eliminate your problem & should be done every 2-3 mths, regardless of whatever the model of coffee maker you have. Good Luck.
To delime a multi-cup coffee maker, mix white vinegar with water (1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water) and fill the water reservoir completely. Then turn the coffee maker on. Wait until the unit completes the "brewing" cycle and beeps 5 times. Turn off the coffee maker. Discard the liquid after the cycle. Then fill the reservoir with clean water and turn on again. When this cycle completes, again discard the liquid. Repeat the water rinse if you notice an odd taste to the coffee afterwards. (If the coffee maker still has deposits, repeat the vinegar cleaning cycle and rinse cycles.) There are commercial deliming products, mix them with water following the package directions.
Although this is in "Problem with Vacuums," I found it while searching for a solution to my steam cleaner vacuum problem. You must be talking about a Keurig or Breville-Keurig coffee maker. Tap water, especially chemically softened tap water, contains minerals that require periodic descaling, as often as every two months if you make only a couple of cups a day.
Filling the tank with white vinegar and making multiple large mugs without a Keurig coffee cup in the holder will remove most scale. There are products that claim to do better than white vinegar if this does not work. Amazon sells a couple of brands in its Keurig section.
It will take several tank fulls of clean water to rid the machine of the vinegar or commercial cleaning solution. Use distilled water for this. Then switch to good bottled water without a heavy mineral load.
I know this sounds like a pain but it takes a while toget that silly light to stop.
