Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator

Water line burnt into causing water to run on floor when water is dispensed.

The water line that was burnt into from the hot compressor is my next problem. I can't seem to find a connector to patch to ends back together. Will I need to replace the whole water line? Do you have any suggestion on how I can connect the two ends back together?

Replace the line. Splicing a line can lead to leaks down the line. You can get the material you need from a local hardware store.

if the compressor goes off and only the fan keeps working thats broken fridg but fan is not a big energy drainer on bill if the compressor works allways it might be to hot in the room or door is not seald or totaly closed give it a strog push when closing or maybe you have under floor heating so you have to insulate bottom from heat or maybe its not insulatdd well from heat of compressor

Hello,
Just went through the same thing only with a water leak also. The root of the issue was a computer board which shut down a cooling fan which is supposed to cool the compressor. A repair technician stated the warning signs are a constantly running unit and the center divider between the freezer and refrigerator is hot to the touch. As far as the smell and water leak. The waterline was laying against the compressor which registered at 174 degrees which melted the line and caused the leak. I guess your compressor could just be very hot also.
This line was after the valve so the only time it leaked was when the ice maker refills or one dispenses water. Access is easy pull unit out and remove lower panel on rear of unit. fan , compressor and line all visible At first he thought it was just a cooling fan but after further testing found it was a control board. The big problem is this causes a small unnoticeable water leak which over time does a great job at damaging wood floors, etc. Short term fix while waiting for parts is to shut off water and place a small fan pointed at compressor, this did reduce temp of divider and now it doesn't run 24/7.
Good Luck

Model #GSH25JSTCSS---Not getting any water from the water dispenser but still have ice coming out---What's the problem?

I have this same model and problem. The water line may be frozen inside the freezer door. (the line enters at the bottom hinge area of the freezer door)

Shut the unit off and leave the freezer door open ( you will need to remove your stuff you want to save first)

Next disconnect the line coming out of the Freezer door near the bottom hinge (should be a quick disconnect coupler, you will need to remove the front air grill assy to allow access to the line/coupler) and lay the line out on the floor.

After thawing the water should run out the line leaving a small puddle on the floor. Reconnect the line, plug the unit back in and test your dispenser.

Although this method restored my water dispenser to working condition, other possible causes for this include the line freezing up in the refridgerator section, bad water valve, bad relay on the motherboard, that triggers the water valve, bad motherboard. Hope this helps.

GE GSS20IEPHWW side-by-side refrigerator stopped cooling

First off, when the fans are both running, the compressor should also be running. Sometimes, because they run quietly, it is difficult to tell if they are running. Touch the compressor to feel for heat and / or vibration to confirm running. (if the compressor gets too hot, the overload will stop it until the compressor cools down. That could happen with too low or too high voltage, even with the cooling fan running) You did not say how long you let the unit defrost. To properly defrost it, you should empty out the freezer side, remove the shelves, and take the metal cover off the back inside wall of the freezer. Then, use a hair dryer to melt all the frost off. If the coils were blocked with frost, you probably have a burnt out defrost heater (located at the bottom of the cooling coils) when replacing the defrost heater, use part number WR51X10101 and follow directions, as it may have a different configuration than the original heater. A frost blocked evaporator (coils inside the freezer) will stop normal air circulation inside the refrigerator. Cold air will then be able to flow backward, into the bottom of the refrigerator side through the normal return air duct located at the bottom of the refrig / freezer divider. This cold air can freeze the water line or water reservoir located there. There for, solving your defrost issue most likely will also solve your water line freeze issue.

The water coming out of the water dispenser in our GE Profile PSC25PSWA fridge is hot--hot enough to take a bath in. We don't know why the water is suddenly not being cooled and think this is causing...

Is this a new fridge that was recently installed? Because the only thing I can think of that could be causing hot water coming out of the water dispenser is either the installer/tech hooked up the fridge water inlet line to a hot water line somewhere.

Either that, or there is so much extra plastic water line running around in back and/or bottom of the fridge, that the water in the line is getting heated up by being in contact with the condensor coils or the compressor, etc.

No doubt, this is an interesting situation and some more background will likely be needed to get to the source of the problem, especially since you didn't mention any problems with cooling in the fridge or freezer.

Hope this was Very Helpful and let us know some more info, if my basic hunches aren't the problem. Best regards!

GDM-12 Refrigerator smells burnt. Any suggesstions?

It could be smelling burnt for a few reasons. The best case scenario would be that the condensor fan is stuck which is causing the compressor to get hot and burn, in this case you would just find the obstruction and remove it. Or the condensor's fan motor could be bad, causing the fan to spin slowly which would also cause the compressor to get hot and burn, in this case you would replace the fan motor. Or the cooler has a restriction in the refrigeration lines causing the compressor to work harder which causes the compressor to get hot and burn. In this case call a refrigeration technicion to clear the lines.

Water is hot on both cold and hot side of my water cooler. water bottle on cooler is extreamly hot.

are you talking about a water cooler dispenser with hot and cold valve?

if you do, the cooling side is not functioning well.

is the compressor running? if not, check the thermostat.

if the compressor tries to start but can not. check the relay of the compressor, it may be bad.
if the relay is ok then the compressor is bad.

another thing to look at is the hot water thermostat. it may no longer functioning as to the cause of the bottle to be extremely hot.

Compressor is extremely hot

Compressor will be hot to the touch. You stated the fan was replaced and then said the fan is not cooling. If you replaced the fan and it is now operating, reinstall the panel you removed to install the fan motor. That panel determines proper air circulation to cool the system.
