Can you give additional information? the purple screen could also be the dreade BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. do get to see any error message or stop code? can you try to boot using LAST KNOW GOOD CONFIGURATION? by pressing F8 when your computer starts and in the advance boot menu select LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION.
normally vista will repair itself when you restart it. was vista able to repair the OS?
Blue screen can be caused by several factors it could be both hardware and software. for software it could be caused by any new software/program installed or updates installed. for hardware it could be from your hard drive to memory depending on the error message. but at this point we shall presume it to be caused by a software and could have corrupted your vista file or hive of our vista.
first option is if you can still go tosafe mode try to do a system restore click start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a highlighted date on the calendar to the left when your computer works well and restore your computer to that date
if you are still having problem get your vista cd ready we may need to fix some files in your computer
boot to cd with your vista inside your cd rom drive. let your windows load up and when you get to see the window welcome setup screen choose repair then type chkdsk /r
still lots to be done but for now let us assume one of the fixes is within this reply

Dx2200 stops booting up. then shows a purple and yellow dotted screen !!! why ?

If your screen shows a clear picture to start with then it is most likely the video card driver. I don't know what you mean by no access to safe mode, but if you can get into safe mode you should be able to uninstall the video driver and restart. Safe mode is usually accessed by hitting F8 before windows starts so as soon as you see a picture on the screen start hitting F8 a few times until you get to the safe mode selection menu.

SYSTEM HANGS DURING REBOOT

Hi jameelafghan.

Remove the RAM/Memory from *********** board, and re-insert it.

Sometimes miss-alignment or dust on contact points can lead to dead spots on Memory, and the computer will hang.

An easy fix. Try it!

Kind Regards

How to fix code purple error

for windows XP:
- Get into C:\hp\bin\CheckConfig\cfgchk.bat
- Rename the file "run.py" to "run.p_" or just delete it. (That's the file that verify the hardware configuration for the OEM version)
- Then reboot!
for vista:
- Get into C:\hp\bin\CheckDMI folder
- Rename the file "CheckDMI.cmd" to "CheckDMI"
or
- Edit the file and change the "0" (zero) value (there is only one in the whole file) for "1" value...which means that the hardware configuration respect the terms of the OEM contract.
- Then reboot!

My monitor is showing things way to big to fit on the screen How do I fix this ? just rebooted today

right click anywhere on your screen/properties/display for vista and settings for xp. then increase your resolution from whatever it is right now, i.e. 680 by 840 to any thing higher. that will do it.

Click Start>Run and type msconfig. Select the startup tab and deselect everything. Reboot your computer and attempt to log into Windows. If you are successful you will need to access msconfig and re-enable programs systematically until you find the culpret.

Best Regards.

HP 873n, had Display driver nvlddmkm error, now won't boot

This is a know issue and there is know known solution to this. My take on this is heating problem and vista power management.

its a big mess and different things work for different people. My take would be to update the nvidia drivers and hange the power settings in vista. Control Panel> power management> balanced.

For more possible fixes see http://i.nconspicuo.us/2007/03/28/nvidia-nvlddmkm-vista-driver-fix-here-is-the-solution/

Start-up shows "Launch Start-up recovery" but am unable to proceed

This is Vista you are running and there are a couple of options. I'll go for the easy one first

Boot and insert Vista install or recovery DVD (any Vista disc will do for this)

Reboot and hopefully it will offer the option to boot from the DVD. Take this option and follow it through until you are offered the option to install Vista or repair your computer. Just follow things though from there and it MAY repair the boot problem.

If it does not offer you the initial boot option then look on the initial boot screen for the boot options key - probably F11 or F12 - and press that during initial boot to obtain the boot options screen
