Cursor Will Not Stay Put

Cursor or Scroll bar will not stay put.
On Desktop page, cursor will not stay on correct icon, always falls to lowest icon, Unless I hold down the Fn Key 1st.
On web sites the scroll bar keeps scrolling down also like im scrolling down ALL the time, Also corrects by holding down Fn key.
at one time it would correct itself by holding down FN F10 keys.
Any Help would be appreciated!!

Try uninstalling the drivers from the device manager, then do a hardware search. It will automatically find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers. If this doesn't work, then check the connector under the keyboard. Disconnect it and reconnect it, they sometimes work loose. If these don't correct the problem, then you have a faulty touch pad and you'll have to replace it.

Swap out the mouse.

If there is a ball underneath, remove it and clean the X and Y rollers.

The page scrolls up and down - somtimes even jumps up and down - when the cursor is nowhere near the right hand of the screen where the vertical scroll bar is.

It is possible you might have picked up a virus, or a bad device driver. Try a system restore taking the computer back in time before this happened, may resolve the issue.

Hi, when I turn on the Acer Aspire 5920, the acer screen comes on, the bar across the bottom moves, then it goes to a blank dark screen with a blinking cursor. I have tried turning off and turning on and...

Check if your hard rive indicator light is flashing (has disc shape icon or can shape icon next to it). If it is then put in your windows disc and do a startup repair. Make sure it is booting from the disc drive first. if it isnt flashing then you may have a dead hard drive. Try taking the hard drive out and putting it back in.

My cursor won't stay in a box or on a line

i assume you do not have an external mouse connected to it, the problem that I have seen most often, is that people tend to put their palm or wrist on the touchpad and it causes the mouse to move. i would go into the control panel and make the pad less sensitive.
if its another issue, please let me know

thanks

Cursor wont stay on screen

Do you mean your mouse icon is "ghosting" or "flickering"? That could be a graphic card issue. Install newest drivers for your graphic card (which can be found under control panel/Hardware if your a Vista user)
Or if the cursor moves on its own then the touch pad is damaged.

Bought this for my son, it's only had 2 hours use, how do i put an anti viras on it? i don't know anything about computers, thank you.

I like to suggest a free one, and one that will beat the pants off of any expensive version you can buy!

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

This is information about Malwarebytes on Wikipedia.org,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malwarebytes

This is the download page for the free version,

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10896905.html

Now, I am not trying to insult your intelligence in any way. I'm just going with the info you stated about not knowing anything about computers.

The above links, may not come out as a link you just click on, and it takes you to that website. In this case, you need to copy and paste the link into your address bar.

Put your mouse cursor right before the -> h, of http:
Hold the Left mouse button down, and slide the mouse cursor across the entire link, until you are at the last letter. (->l of html)
The entire link should be highlighted in blue.
Now hold the CTRL key down on the keyboard, and at the SAME time press the -> C key.
(Copy)

Go up your address bar where you see http://www, and put your mouse cursor at the end of the address, that's in there. Click the Left mouse button once. Now hold the CTRL key down, and press the V key. (Paste)
Now just click on the right end of the address bar. (Go)

When you are on the download page for the free version of Malwarebytes, you will see a green square icon that has a V at the top, and a small type of U symbol underneath the U.
-> Download the latest version <- is to the right of this icon. (It's in blue) Click on this. Your download should start automatically, and it will be a small window up to the right.

Click on the empty circle to the left of -> Save. After it is finished downloading, close this page. (Red X)
Go back to your desktop screen. You will see the downloaded file on your desktop. Double-click right on this file, and follow the easy instructions.

Cursor won't stay where I move it with the mouse

Hi, your first problem (and possibly second problem) sounds like it's the "Insert" function on your keyboard. I've seen this a lot. Find the Insert key on your keyboard. It's normally off to the right side with the Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down keys. When you have the problem, press the Insert key and then keep typing. It should toggle between the cursor moving with typing, and not. If this was helpful, please rate my response. Thanks!
