All you can do is try cleaning the laser lens. Use a lens cleaning disc and let it run about 20 to 30 seconds.

If the problem is the lens needing to be cleaned, this will fix it. If you continue to have the same problem the laser pick up is bad.

You cannot take it to any shop, it must go to Sony's factory service located in El Paso Texas, they will then send it across the border to Mexico where Sony moved their factory service center to.

Parts are not available for the Playstations. Sony will not sell parts for the Playstion to any repair center.

I know this for a fact. I work at a Sony authorized service center and we can not even get the parts there.

The problem you are having is the most common problem with the Playstation.

I know this is not very good news, but it is the truth.

I hope you found this information helpful, and if you did a good rating would be appreciated, and appropriate since it is the correct answer.

The problem here is the lens you might have touched it accidentally. You can bring it to a shop to have lens changed or remodify your console.
Thanks!

Playstation 2 slim console, doesn't spin so it doesn't read discs

Hello,

The following could be the problem;

1. It could be that you inserted a wrong format of the CD.E.g Inserting a PAL cd into an NTSC console.

2.The CD is jammed and may need to be re-booted.

3. The CD you are inserting is a bad disc.

Best regards
