I dont have a sound card or have by mistake unistalled the sound card.please advise on how i can install a audio device for my acer windows vista laptop

Go to My Computer, right click it, select properties, select hardware, select device manager. Is your device listed? Is there a yellow or red mark in the name?

If it is listed and no error markings (red or yellow), right click to open and see what the comments are. It might be that you have the volume turned down.

If it has an error code (red or yellow mark), delete the device and reboot your computer. The operating system will detect the device during POST (Power On Self Test) and will reinstall the software for it.

When i plug in my headphones no sound comes through them. I have tried 3 different pairs of headphones and still no sound. And the sound is not muted.

reinstall drivers for your sound card.
1) go to start.
2) right clic on my computer
3) if you have vista or win.7 click on device manager and if you have windows xp, click on hardware and then and device manager.
4) once you get there. look for sound, video and game controllers and double click it to espand it.
5) it will depend on your sound card , but you will find something like high definicion audio. right click it and unistall.

warning! . just unistall it dont delete the driver sofware.

6) last step . reboot your computer and when the computer turn on automatically reload the divers again. if does not. just follow the steps 1-4 and just right click. and scan for hardware changes

hope this help.

I have a Toshiba and when i click on the web cam it comes up as "Graph render fail" what does this mean? and how can i fix it?

right click on "my computer". Or "computer" in the start menu on Vista. Select "Manage". Wait for the window to pop up.
Under system tools, select Device manager. Go to where it says Imaging devices..click it, and under it, it should say something like, "gateway USB 2.0 webcam"(or something refering to the webcam" ~ Double click it, and select the driver tab. Go down to Uninstall. And uninstall the webcam (when it asks if you want to delete the software for it, don't select the box). Click ok and It will unistall the drivers, restart the computer and after it starts back up, it'll detect the webcam and re-install the drivers..and It should work normal. Please Vote for ME .......!!!!

I try to access the camera thru the desk top short cut..when I click the camera icon it looks for the photos...then a message.."computer cannot locate camera"...I have completed trouble shooting the usb...

your best bet would be to unistall the camera and reinstall it.

ONLY DO THIS IF YOU HAVE THE SOFTWARE TO REINSTALL the camera or it is a plug and play

right click on my computer go to the hardware tab, then device manager.

your camera should be under storage volumes or imaging devices.

LOCATE it click on it and choose unistall. It will unistall the camera. Reboot and then re-install your camera from the disc that came with it.

And then it should work.

I have the exact same problem, what i suggest is finding your manual, and CD to install (if u have one) because i remember this problem a while back when i first got it, but after i installed it was ok...if you dont have the manual or disk, you could look for an online instalation manual (which is what im doing right now)
