Question about Electrolux Lux 7000 Bagged Canister Vacuum
I have an Electrolux Epic 6500 SR (predecessor of Lux 7000).
The full bag system works properly--it shuts down the vacuum when the bag is full and illuminates the full bag light.
However, when I try to start the vacuum again with a new bag, the full bag light stays on and the vacuum doesn't reset right away.
If I put a new bag into the machine and press the on/off switch 5 + times, the full bag light goes out and the vacuum starts running again. I have had several of these vacuums with the full bag sensors and I have never run into a problem with the system on any of them before.
Here's the scenario:
1. Vacuuming until the bag is full and the sensor switches off the machine and the full bag light illuminates.
2. Press on/off switch to turn "off" vacuum--Full bag light stays illuminated.
3. Insert new and empty bag.
4. Press on/off switch to turn on vacuum (full bag light is still illuminated).
5. Vacuum does not turn on (full bag light is still illuminated).
6. Press on/off switch 5+ times and the full bag light turns off.
7. Press on/off switch and vacuum turns on.
Anyone have an idea? The Aerus/Electrolux service agent near me simply tells me that I should invest in a new vacuum cleaner. I know that there is an alternative solution here.
Either there is something wrong with your switch. Which it doesnt sound like it. Take it to your dealer or call another one it sounds like the control valve needs to be replaced. I am a dealer 1-866-966-9350.

I opened the case and watched the full-bag switch in action. It reset every time but still failed when the hose was connected. I saw nothing to suggest that five on-off cycles of the switch would reset anything, but tried it five times anyway. I tried taping a bit of foam at the end of the bar the vacuum switch moves and it worked fine for about five minutes after reassembly. I gave up, popped it open again, disconnected the clear hose from the vacuum switch and plugged the end of the hose leading to the dial control so that it wouldn't be a constant bleed on the vacuum. When it begins to lose suction I'll check the bag just as I do on other vacuums.

My issue was similar to solution two. It seemed to be a sticking switch attached to the power button assembly. After trying to oil it etc with no change, I eventually just disconnected the clear hose that attaches to the white pressure sensor which is on the power button assembly. Works like a charm now but I will need to be careful willmy next full bag or if I get a clog as the engine with just keep trying to ****. Much better than tossing out the vacuum if you can't find a needed switch assembly .

The problem was a sticking switch that was not being reset. The vacuum on/off switch mechanism is comprised of two switches. One is the main switch that turns the vacuum on and off. The second is a shut off switch that gets tripped when the full bag sensor is engaged. This second switch is supposed to get reset when you push the on/off switch on the outside of the machine. The full bag shutoff switch was stiff and it, therefore, was taking a couple of presses of the on/off switch to move the shutoff switch back into the running position.

You can purchase even genuine Electrolux or Aerus Electrolux motors on E-Bay, but there's no surety of what you will receive.
Contact your nearest Aerus dealership. They used to install the motor at no extra charge.
