Question about Proscan PS80690 TV

1 Answer

TV will not power on

My ProScan PS80690 made little sound and turned off whole we were watching TV. I have tried all possible ways, including disconnecting power for 15 minutes to 24 hours and tried to turn it on with remote and by pushing ON switch on the unit. No response of any kind.

We live in a small town and the closest service center is 100 miles. The service center says they can not get parts for this unit. RCA produced very limited number and don't produce spare parts any more.

I will appreciate guidance. My e-mail address is lall01@hotmail.com.

Sorry, I had the same thing happen to me. The problem is a chip that has blown on the main control board in the unit. The board must be replaced, but I checked and as the service place told you, parts are not available. Looks like it is time for a new TV

My proscan 42" LCD tv

hi; do check the AC cord if still good.
if your LCD TV wont start , even if you press the power button , it has a power supply failure, maybe some capacitor has bloated or changed value, try to watch this http://www.youtube.com if you know how to solder, or even disassemble the back of LCD TV. if not try to call a repair technician.
thanks ,, hope this helps........

Does it come apart to move (ps80690)

yes it does look behind the tv. you will find two wholes, one on each side . put your hand in , and feel the top of the whole threw the inside, you will need to remove the bolts on both sides, you will need two people one on each side to lift the screen from the base, notice the hinges on the back , grab the hinge with one hand and place your other hand on the front and lift carefully , DANGER very heavy...

Audio not working on proscan ps61700

I have a GE 46 in TV that had the same occurrence. I believe it is a sign that the amplifier is overheated or stressed. The way I fixed mine was to unplug TV and leave off for a few minutes -then plug in. I discovered this by accident when the power went off one day and the sound returned (had been using my vcr audio output plugged into my stereo for weeks!) This fix will work for weeks-sometimes months-evidently resets the circuits inside the amp somehow. Last time this happened I also removed the back of TV and blew out the dust with compressed air while it was unplugged-still have sound 4 months later without a "reset"-so I'm guessing it did help .

Sony FD Trinition WEGA KV-32fs120 32" (no picture)

If the standby light is blinking 5 times then repeating, it is likely a problem in your picture tube or related circuitry. Other possibilities include the "Jungle" IC which takes care of the video, chroma and deflection processes and is a bear to replace. Either way, it could be an expensive repair.
