You may want to contact HP directly as the dv6000 is eligible for an extended warranty. Check this link and see if your problem is listed.

How long ago did you purchase your computer? If your within the return policy i'd return it right away. It appears that you have a bad Hard Drive.

If your outsitde the return policy, you'll have to purchase a new hard drive and get it installed or contact HP and send out your unit to get repaired.

If you purchased a PSP with your laptop, Geek Squad will take care of it all for you.

Need more information to really help you. Are you playing movies in the DVD/CD player of the laptop? Are you playing movies by streaming from Netflix or Amazon or Hulu or Xfinity? Are you playing movies from an external hard drive or flashdrive plugged into an older USB 2.0 port?
Your wi-fi connection may be too slow to stream without freezing. Your cpu/processor may be too old and slow to handle HD video. Your video/graphics chip built-in to the laptop may be old and not capable of handling HD quality video.

On-line or offline? Try shutting down some of your running programs. Try another Media Player. Does this happen with ALL music and movies?

How to play DVD on Hp?

Is the movie a store purchased movie or is it a movie that someone copied and gave to you? Computers sometimes have problems reading or playing a dvd or cd that someone else made and gave to you. Try a store purchased music cd or store purchased movie dvd and see if the player plays it.

Ok my disk drive isnt working its not playing cd's movies or burning any new cds how do i fix this problem?

This could either be two things:
-Cable connections to the power in the back of the hard drive-Software needed to write or read.
Nine times out of ten its power. When you boot your machine, click f2 i think it is to go into boot settings. Then should be hardware or something on the lines which shows you something like this:HardDriveCDRW/CDROM << This is what you are looking for - If you click onto it and it should show you if anything is installed.
Here is a example using google images:If you cdrom is not showing in there you can click a slot and change it, if not power might be the issue.,r:22,s:0,i:116&tx=119&ty=31

Trying to boot asus with windows xp cdrom. unable to boot

When you first turn on your computer watch the screen it will prompt you at the bottom usually to press the F2 or sometimes DEL key. Look through your BIOS sometimes under BOOT OPTIONS, sometimes in the HDD configuration. Your system needs to be set to BOOT FROM CD as the first boot option or USB then CD then your HDD. If your HDD is set to boot in the number 1 spot this would be stopping you from boot from that drive. Other problems would be bad CD drive, or a bad damaged install CD. If it's on now or if you can boot to windows see if you can open the disk there now. If you can see the cd in the drive from windows or if when you put it in it starts the setup we know your drive and disk work. If not then you will have to figure out if it's the drive or if it's the CD. If you have a new CD/DVD from the store with music or a movie on it put it in see if it reads/plays it. If it will open play other disks then it's the install CD. If you can open read it from another computer you can make a copy and drive to boot from the CD you just burnt. Let me know if this helped you or if you have more questions.

Hi mine is Acer Aspire 4520. I was playing movie from a DVD yesterday all fine. I left it inside the drive. Today I found that my DVD Ram device has gone bad; it's showing all empty space in whatever...

Can you suggest which OS you are using?
Does this problem exist for all the CDs/DVDs?
Try to insert bootable CD and try boot from it and check if it works.
You can try blank cd and just write it using NERO and check.

That's quick time for you. Do you have the latest version installed?
Have you tried VLC Media Player for Windows Media 11?
Very good programs. You can download codec packages that will play any movie format, change formats, play directly from websites, dvd's, cd's and everything else.
