We need a model number to actually be helpful.
Make sure your usb port is 2.0
Make sure all software for the mp3 player is installed first
Go into Device Manager and make sure no yellow exclamation marks are present by your usb ports - update driver if needed
Make sure your computer, OS are compatible with player
