Question about Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

Hi, I found a Wurlitzer organ that I am thinking of buying but the D, D#, F and F# keys don't work of the upper and lower key boards. The keys sound responsive but don't make the noise that an organ key should make. Is this organ worth buying? How can I fix it?

You may have trouble finding the parts for that. But if you know a place where to get the parts for such brand and model then you just have to buy replacement for the rubber contacts of all the keys, it seems though sequencial keys maybe it got dirtied by some liquid and the owner did not try to clean and dry. maybe you can have it checked or try to keep a closer look in the keys, the area that keys doesnt work if any sign of liquid spill before. no use getting it if you find some sign of it.

Hello!
I had several friends over the years who've had Wurlizer organs and they always "swear" by them. Guess they would be somewhat like Maytag products.

Anyway, I called one of them and she said she finally was able to get a partial solution from a friend of hers.

However crazy this sounds, she assures me that this procedure helped:

Look on the middle of the back of the organ, equidistant from corner to corner. There should be a knob of sorts which is kind of gold or bronze color. If the numbers haven't worn off, they should be around this knob. She said it works like this: turn the knob three times to the right, then four times to the left, and then push up. This supposedly resets the mechanism inside the organ that was loosened when your bench contacted the big pedal.

It's certainly worth a try, isn't it?

Wurlitzer organ --need manual

I can make a copy of my owner's manual and send it to you. It's for a Wurlitzer Model 4430, also from the 1940s, 50s and 60s like the one you have. Would that maybe help? All I'd ask for is a couple of bucks for printing and shipping costs. If you want it, just reply to this post with an address or some way to contact you in order for me to obtain an address; I may be able to be talked into making a digital copy and emailing it to you if that's even legal. I'm not sure. You can look into that for me and let me know what you want/need :-)

Sincerely,
The Organ Donor

JVC RX-884VBK RECEIVER

The JVC RX-884VBK is a great machine, I had it for over 5 years and had no problem at all. I came across the (NO SOUND at all) and I believe it is an easy fix. Check the Front left, there are 2 keys marked 1 and 2 for SPEAKERS output, sometimes you don't notice that you connected the speakers to 1 and the 2 key is pressed. You could have both keys pressed and you will get the sound. I hope that helps.

No DTS sound / RESET

Hi I have a Pioneer VSX D908S which is basically the same amplifier as yours with the difference that the one I have has no THX certification, as a matter of fact the service manual is the same, and mine has the same problem. The prblem is located in the DSP board, if you are able to remove the bonett, you will see on the right side a metal cover, remove it, once you have removed it, look for a IC9374 it is located, -looking this board in front to you- almost at the left upper corner, this IC has the PDK042A on it, with a soldering iron resolder this circuit. This is common problem with this pioneer amplifiers, and this procedure not always works, the final solution is to buy the DSP board but it is expensive. Good luck! Miguel
