There's a Frigidaire heating and cooling unit in the attic, and the thermostat is a White Rodgers (programmable). Air is blowing, but it is not HOT, though the thermostat is set at a high temperature. I have turned the switch to OFF, but the fan continues to blow. There is another compartment (as the heater lies on its side) that indicates that it's to only be open for servicing. I'm think that there is some sort of RESET button needed. Recently, new insulation was added to the attic. With higher outdoor temperatures is it possible that the it's too hot up there and the continuous running stems from an overheated unit? Unless you have and oil fired furnace, there is not a "reset" button. Most likely, the problem will need to be investigated and addressed by a qualified service technician due to the general complexity of HVAC equipment and a plethera of different possible individual problems that could cause your issue.

Air conditioning not working. Have White-Rodgers thermostat 1F79111, I think. Replaced batteries. Now have flashing signal like an asterisk. What does it mean?

Blinking snowflake means it's on time delay for cooling to come on (usually 5 minute time delay to prevent compressor short cycling). Solid snowflake means cooling is on

How do I replace an old White Rodgers thermostat with new honeywell TH5220

The Orange wire for the reversing valve and used with a Heat Pump
If you have a heat pump, then yes. If you have a gas furnace then no. If you have a HP and the reversing valve is not connected, then you might just be using the emergency electric heat strips. :-o

We have the white and rodgers thermostat model 1F81-261. The problem is that the ac unit will not work. We have reset and changed the batteries and set the point 4 degrees less than the actual room...

Set System Switch to Cool and lower setpoint below room temperature.
Verify thermostat and system wires are securely attached.
Diagonistic: Set System Switch to Cool and lower the setpoint below the room temperature. Within a few seconds the thermostat should make a soft click sound. This sound usually indicates the thermostat is operating properly. If the thermostat does not click, try the reset operation ( . If the thermostat does not click after being reset contact your heating and cooling service person or place of purchase for a replacement. If the thermostat clicks, contact the furnace manufacturer or a service person to verify the heating system is operating correctly.

Reset the thermostat by pressing , UP,DOWN and TIME at the same time.

Replacing WHITE-RODGERS manual thermostat with 3 wires ( red, white, blue and installing Honeywell electronic thermostat RTH110B, how do I connect it? The heating is not central, baseboard heating.

I have only seen one Honeywell thermostat that would work with a 3-wire heating system.

I would replace it with a White-Rodgers 1F80-0471. They are about $100, but they are a good thermostat, and they work well with the 3-wire zone valves.

Most other thermostats have the "Y" terminal that you need, but do not control the zone valve correctly.
