Hi Folks, Problems with Dig Camera (Relisys Dimera 2000) & Modem (Rockwell 33.6K Internal) Motherboard is an "Explorer 1V 82430 VX"
I can not get the computer to recognise the camera. Sources advise me I have a conflict between the camera and the modem.
Information I have is the Modem is on Comm 4 (02E8) using IRQ3. I have connected the camera to the 25 pin Comm Port using a 25 to 9 pin adapter. I get the error message that the camera is not responding and to check the cables and power on etc .I have deleted the modem in control panel, modems and then tried to find the camera without success.
Anyone out there got any help with my problem? Thanks in anticipation -- Take Care,
try connecting your camera to the 9pin serial port. Your problem is that your camera is on com 2 and your modem on com4. These ports share the same memory address and IRQ, so when both are in use you will get a conflict. Or set your modem to Com3 IRQ4. as long as you are not using COM1 for anything, as again COM1 and COM3 use the same settings.
One last thing, you could try going into the BIOS and changing the IRQ/Memory settings for the COM ports. These will be in the BIOS as "onboard serial ports"
regards mikw

Hey, My guess is the same as the previous reply...the modem and camera cannot share com1 and com3 or com2 and com4...(whatever)
But...and this might be pretty obvious...did you check the connector going into the camera to make sure it is seated? The only reason I ask is bacause I was hooking up a Dimera 3500 tonite and I could not get the computer to access the camera either. After screwing around with the serial ports, I finally reseated the connetor at the camera and it took off. There was a second click that I could hear when it finally seated. I don't know how the 2000 compares to the 3500, but that was how I solved my problem finally. Later Mike

I have the "mouse" on comm 1, will this cause the same problem?
I have thought of a USB card and mouse to free up comm 1. Any thoughts on that option?
Thanks for taking the time to reply Take care Dougie.
